Dayak, look into a drip system.

I had my nitrates at 40ppm doing 50% water changes weekly and with a drip system my ppm is now under 10ppm even with my power feeding. It is truly amazing how a drip system will keep your water parameters intact. I drip 2gph that = 336g changed per week.:naughty:

Yes bomber I was looking at that kinda system to, where did u put ur drip system on outlet or inlet? That's the area I'm still grey :(

Check one of your first posts. My sump design is in there for the drip explanation.

I have fresh water filtered with a carbon filter cause I do not have any clourmine (sp) in my water dripping 2 gph on my return side of my sump. My sump also has an over flow that would go down a drain. Just tap your overflow to your wife's garden and that should solve your issue.

I will check that post with ur sump pump blue print,
I think u r reading my mind LOL about the easy way for W C and I will be taping the overflow drain in my cabinet

I don't think Moss balls would help that much in nitrates, try an algae filter. Or if you are too lazy to make one, go for Potho plants. Many members with nitrate problems have been successful using potho

i would agree that the moss will not affect his problems as much as he needs. i told him about hydroponics in the first thread, as i use it even though i never had a nitrate problem.

just got done with plumbing easy WC, bucketless WC!!
still needs to work on cutting nitrate waste with less WC,
wow these internet keyboard warrior is out of control, can u get alive plz?

sbuse, i heard someone told me to try the poto maybe it was you, and no i have not try it yet but i did look into it, its just not very appliable to me.
i dont have place to put the plants, and i cant put it in my sump because mine is inside a cabinet which is in the dark LOL. r u suggesting me to put lightning now in my sump cabinet?

i actually thinking to have a my tank planted it the same time it has to be pretty plants

he is almost 10 inch now!!
and on these shots r where his eye has a DE, so far its stay the same drop like when i first notice it..not very visible drop but i know its DE affecting his right eye, and i dont know if u guys can spotted either with the crappy pic i have and also pardon my kitchen/dining table in your way.

or is there plant that i could use that i can keep in the dark 24 hours no problem?
and no im not going to put lightning in my cabinet, does it make me disobeying again LOL

you could leave the plants roots hang in the water or you could use your 'custom' ac100 hob filter like i did/do. here are some pics of my 'custom' ac70. also i added a pic of the tank. you could also add some amozon swards to your tank. look good and filter the water. i also added a pic of my big tank with the swards so you can see. i also added a pic of the root ball from the pothoes just hanging in the tank, it also helps fish, like my south american lungfish hid neer the surface. you also can see my 'lucky bamboo' that i got from wal-mart and stuck in some of my hob filters and in the tank itself. all these are things you can do since all these plants don't need expencive lights. i just have some shop lights(the 4' floresent lights) and a neer by window that sunlight comes in from.

Lots of people illuminate their sumps.

All you have to do is just get one of those cheap clip-on lights. If you do that (which I doubt you will since you never take people's advice, but still I'll say it), set it on a timer. The timer must be the opposite of your main aquarium lights.

So that means at any one time, either your main tank light or the sump light would be on. This is to ensure the temperature don't fluctuate

Day, did you look at the Algae Scrubbers posted in the DIY section here?.
I have perfect 0 Aomnoia and 0 NitrItates but NitrAtes are running at 40 or so...
For me Water changes do not help as the local water is higher in Nitrates than my tank!!
What I have found is that in fact as my Algae scrubber "Aclimates" the NitrAte level is dropping.

I have also noticed that Algae is NOT growing on the glass nor on the decorations.
My fish are healthy and active and growing .. I do NOT have an Arrow "YET" still trying to decide what *I* want.. and it will be housed in my community tank of Flag Tails and Torpedo Barbs (Barbs or Tetra?) I understand the "Risk" that the Arrow will dine or Gourmet Fish dinner hahaha) but I wil take the risk and monitor.. the Arrow or others can easily be moved to my 1,000++ Gal Pond.

Take a look / read of the thread .. it may be "Adjustible " to suit your needs which as I understand are limited water changes and limited space for the sump..

Hope this has been helpful and positive.. I do not hold to be an "Expert" I can say I have had success with this Algae scrubber setup and I rarly do any Water changes still maintaining good water chemistry. Even though NitrAte levels are higher than I want, they are acceptable and getting better using this filter system.

good luck
