No I did not know about the algea scrubber but I will look into it before I take the plunge on drip system bomber suggested and, he said it works on his tank and always keep his nitrate at bay, I will just have to look deeper on the option u mention and do my math to see which one better and thank u for ur info about that,

Yes I have to ignore the suggestion again, its just don't work with what I'm trying to accomplish with the budget I set in the long run and did I mentioned I did not want light in my cabinet?
I do have heater in my sump,

I've cleaned this thread of all the name-calling, arguing, and sidebar conversations. I should have issued nearly a dozen infractions and, at least, 2 suspensions for the garbage that has been posted contrary to the topic and TOS. I won't fail to take action if the trash continues after this post.

Oppps did not notice/ register the no lights in sump area.. Algae scrubber needs light so sorry.. but look at it anyway it is a good read and logical solution.

What is the prblrm with NitrAtes? are they really causing a problem? and do you know why they are up.. you said, I think, the other parameters are fine NitrIates so NitrAtes just mean there are more nutriants leading to Algae blooms.. I think.. again not so experienced but learning so take what I say as something to think about / consider read about.

In my situation the Algae scrubber is a good solution.. but *My* situation is not necessarily *your* situation

Yes It did look as if were getting a little too heated to be fun anymore ...
Reality is that we are all (most are) Passionate about our fish keeping so sometimes things "Flare"...
for me I just roll with it and try to gain more knowledge......
I mean that IS the point right??

you could leave the plants roots hang in the water or you could use your 'custom' ac100 hob filter like i did/do. here are some pics of my 'custom' ac70. also i added a pic of the tank. you could also add some amozon swards to your tank. look good and filter the water. i also added a pic of my big tank with the swards so you can see. i also added a pic of the root ball from the pothoes just hanging in the tank, it also helps fish, like my south american lungfish hid neer the surface. you also can see my 'lucky bamboo' that i got from wal-mart and stuck in some of my hob filters and in the tank itself. all these are things you can do since all these plants don't need expencive lights. i just have some shop lights(the 4' floresent lights) and a neer by window that sunlight comes in from.

I do not have place in my custom ac110 anymore doing it it will cut my filteration and I have more stuffs to figure out than I have to besides my custom ac110 is a back up filter which also serve as a jumper for another tanks of mine.
I do like the idea of amazon sword plants in my tank tho ur pic prove it can look to be petty and also that's I wanted to do as right the moss ball and anubias r the only plants I have

U have nothing to aplogize to me, I'm gonna look anyway and calculate what's the best option to what I want and need for my case,
Its no problem with my tank its just want to have prestine water parameter with my every 2 weeks wc schedule, I fall short on that and I know I could reach my goal since I have not explore filteration too much

personally i would take everything, but the sponge out of the ac100. then put all that stuff in the sump. then add 1 whole pothoes plant from wal-mart. it will not only rid you of nitrate, but many many other issues you may have. it would be worth the effort in the end cause if you just had the pothoes and the stuff in the ac100 on a side by side comparison the pothoes would create perfict water while you stuff would fall short of that by far.

good to know i have atleast 3 method to play to cut nitrate

1. drip system
2. algea scrubber
3. pothoes plants in HOB

the pothoes plant does seem to be the easy way at the cost of convenience of moving the filter tank to tank which sometimes i do.
unless i want to get another AC hob.

drip system is the one im looking at but not set on it yet, its good to have options

i put pothoes in the AC110 couple days ago and picked up new AC110 for the back-up which filter my old tank, moved the old medias to the new filter.
thats the easiest and simplest for now, and see it works for me..
and i didnt know i have bunch of pothoes in my house, my wife clean the pothoes of the pots and dump it in the AC110.

another problem arised tho, i love the black sand i have and my fish like to poop alot and its starting to get worse, everytime i clean the sand bed, a minute later new poop start piling up and im getting tired of sucking out the poop

how do u guys remedy the poop problem?
i wish someone invent diapers for fish

here it is the latest pic, taken only a min ago and tested the water, water changed yesterday, and the parameter as right now is ph 7.6/7.8 0 ammo and nitrite with 20 nirate.
still not happy with the nitrate but then again no real action taken to make it down LOL

since i dont see any real advantage at all on using water conditioner such as prime or api stress coat(which i used to use), i just directly put tap water in my tank the last time was the second time the water untreated.
