poo-fix. get a fx5 put the intake in the corner were the flow puts the poo pile. place the intake just off the sand. place the return in the opposite corner from the intake. problem solved.
i just noticed the pure tap water deal...for risk of suspention i will leave it at this. you need to use a conditioner cause you don't have well water. i will not go in-depth on this topic since it is something you should know from the start.
just saying. my example of progress of a noob is when i started i was going to have 2 pirhanas in a 20gal with no filter. this was many many years ago to now were i have pothoes, bamboo, amazon swards, a fx5, an emperor 400, and an emperor 280 on one tank alone. thats all cause i saw the error i was making, fixed it and learned/listen to others that were tring to help me.

I would NOT just add Tap water.
By doing that, putting the whole system in Jeopardy. Save yourself the headache and just buy a small bottle of Seachem Prime or similar products.

Lol, forgot about the cholrine part but maybe I'm just lucky this time arround ins done 2 wc with no conditioner and thing the same maybe I'm just forgetten because we drink our our directly from tap water,it does have .25 ammo and 5 nitrate for my tap water
well, we will see if i killed my BB with untreated tap water i have in my area within 3-7 days, hopefully i still got lucky like the last time.

since i have dual pump on my sump, what i did to them was just like u would do with your FX-5 return. too bad i need to extend down my AC110 again and no LFS open at middle of night, will find out tomorrow if the AC110 have enough HP to suck those boogers
here it is another update of the fail LOL
2 nights ago my heater(aqueon shatter proof) exploded in my sump, resulting a big hole in my tub and and flooded my kitchen/dining area, thanks for tile floor so no real damage done, good thing we r home!!
as right now we use no water heater, hey the weather is sunny up here in cali so the tank water never dip below 80F, giving me time to find explode proof heater
the heater shooting out the ceramic thing with wire coils out of the metal casing, more like it shot out like a freaking shot gun
do not buy aqueon shatter proof heater is i learn from it
when that happen the heater send electrical current to my tank, good thing my fishes did their disaster drill so its like nothing happening to them
i quickly shut off my pumps and close the overflow to replace with another tub that i happend to have additional, 50% of the water loss, it was due for WC the next day, again i still did not treat the water, so dont kill me plz, yes i bought big bottle of prime incase of nuclear radiation in the tank
here it is the latest pic, edgy is almost a foot long now, on this pics i am trying to showcase the side of DE he got about a month or so ago which is the right eye. the left eye as good as asian when he was born
