Alright Justin , its started then :( don't let rocky get smashed up Mate ;) , what you thinkin if it keeps up aggressive behaviour naughty step ?
 
Dunno.... rocky comes first! Might get a divider sell the festae and butti and split the tank 30/70... then 50 50 when thw cat grows... will need to be sturdy tho, as much aa o hate divided tanks I love both fish!-)

Ano mate its a tricky one that just have to see how it goes I suppose do what needs to be done , no chance of another setup for cat somewhere in your gaff ?
 
Promised myself no other large setups once I had the 300... I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered it though!-) I dont think either midas pair or black devil need more than half of it each, I might split it with a high quality divider.

Do you leave a night light on? Cichlids, IIRC, rely heavily on sight. The catfish has a huge advantage at night.
 
My moonlight leds blew, it's pitch black at night. .. good call might be worth a try dude.

Imo I'd get onto the divider asap mate not worth risking rocky , ive seen a few people advertising black egg crate on aquatics classified that'd look pretty smart if you can attach it sturdy enough
 
you are right dan, just emailed a guy on ebay with some black eggcrate about combined packaging for postage... they dont do it any bigger than 600x600! just like to clarify aswell that i have sold the 5x2x2 i had in my garage, it was there months and i really dont wanna get into the multiple large tank trap again... guess i can drill and attach 20 or so suckers aswell as a few well placed rocks to secure it?

aswell as having our new baby boy home wednesday so we will be needing all the space we can!-)

there is a few threads on here somewhere about attaching egg crate secure I remember reading it a while back , one guy cut the top so it sat over the edge of tank then used suckers on sides , you could cable tie slate to bottom through the nail holes maybe ? Just an idea
 
thats a great idea on the slate, i might try leaving the 30w t8 on all night while im waiting for the crate aswell... i dunno how long i will stand having it divided though, the tank would make a great breeding tank for just rocky and his girl then maybe some wide bar dollars... i dont think anything will hold the wyckii once he is nearing 2 foot!-(
