the finished product looks great, although it could use a canopy...

Thanks for the compliments. I never really liked canopies. I thought about it but then I would have spend extra moneyon building it and then setting up the light in it.

i got to admit...once everything is painted the white doesnt stand a chance to the black. Love the build man! Very good job

I know man! Once I got the trim painted, I knew that it was better painted black. Thanks for the compliments and following the build. :)

I read everything thus far, thanks for posting everything, I'm hoping to do something similar as I reset up my 150 after moving. Unfortunately I lost 8 / 24 Tangs during the move... They didn't adjust well to going from 150 down to 29. Water chemistry differences from place to place were just too much even though I used the same substrate and filter from the 150.

Cool, thanks,

Oh Man.... I'm very sorry to hear that. Sorry about your loss my friend! Glad that my journey was able to spread some inspiration...

I do have a small update. I did some thinking and took some advice from a few of thread readers and decided to add a few plants to the tank.

I purchased some Anubias Swords and some Vallisineria Cork Screws. Spread them out and they really added some character to the tank so thanks to those that suggested the addition!

A Couple of pics....

Man the tank looks really great. I like the way it was without the plants thou, no offense. And dang man the tank stand...it looks 100 times better than a lot of stands I see in LFS. Great job man, hopefully the tropheus will thank you by giving you some off springs soon.

Man that is some fantastic work! Glad you're going sans canopy, I think its a much better look.

Thank you! I like some of the canopies if they're done right and not real large but I wasn't compelled to add one to mine. I like being able to see down into the tank as well.

Thanks! it was actually pretty simple to put together. it just took a little time becuase of money.

The Ikola are already starting to show spawning behavior. I have an Adult Group of T. Moorii Chaitikas (Blue Rainbows) that I'm getting fry from already. I have a group of 20 right now from the last month. That adutl colony is 1m and 12f. They're even in with m/f Frontosas...

Just an update, I orderd the Pangea Rocky IV from
Underwater Warehouse Underwater Eco Systems, nobody seems to have them in stock. I can't reach a Customer Service Rep from them, so I'll see what happens.
As I do the setup again I'll post pics so everyone can see how it comes together in a a separate thread. I like to collect all my pics at once and then post a thread so readers can get the umph of the project without reading tons of "Cool Man, this is going to look great!" kinds of posts. I know I'm good, I don't need my ego stroked like that, and it bugs the crap out of me to read 20 pages of posts with only three pages of pertinant info. I got a lot of ideas from your setup. We'll see how it turns out.

Ciao!

"Cool Man!"

Sriously though, I looked at their stuff and it looks cool but it's WAY over priced IMHO... Let us know when you start the thread. Add it to you siggy.

I hear on the 100 pages of crap. I have a few pages like that so I do apologize to anyone that got a little irritated by the pointless pages of thinking people. It's much better to read througha shorter thread that has more "To the point" talk and pics!

beautiful tank!

Thanks! I'm thinking of building another one soon. If I can find the same deals in the appropriate amount of time. Have a number for someone selling a nice 180gallon for $180... I might go look at it soon.
