Rare fish theory

I always like collecting things of the same genus or family and getting as many different kinds that I can get my hands on.

Since you like the perches, I'll have something real special coming up soon!

I love that you have alot of interest in the different perch species. Your threads have shown me species I was unfamiliar with and while researching those it has lead me to even more species I was unaware of...and have had to add to my 'wishlist'

Everytime you bring in a new shipment there is at least one wow factor fish, even if it is not a species I have a desire to keep I still enjoy seeing and reading about new and unusual types of fish. I'm eager to see what else you find to import from China..especially in the perch department.

Hopefully you will always do well enough with your imports that you'll be able to continue to bring in these rare fish.

I hear you about collecting all the different species of a genus, I try and do the same.

Looking forward to seeing what you bring in this time...not even going to try and guess what it will be :D

As do i love the perch Wes. Something i love about the way fish in the perch and dat families look, I wish i had the money/tank size to house some larger perch. But i dont if i would be able to afford the $400 dat. I would love to see them in the future if you did bring them in though.

Just wondering here Wes when do you expect to get your next shipment in? I am waiting anxietously

Let's see some more Mahseers! I'm dying to get my hands on the more rare species...Mosal, Putitora, Tor, etc. I feel/fear you're my only hope for acquiring these species.

on my previous Indian shipments, I've made zero profit., just barely break even sometimes. each shipment will run me $5-7k

the problem is then I end up with a bunch of box filler fish and no place to move them.

Wes

Okay guys let's see a show of hands of who's serious about purchasing Mahseers from Wes. I'm sure this is the real deal from India and not just cheap imports from Thailand.
I want mahseers and if there's others out there I hope to have a convincing plea to Wes. Wishy washy or maybe don't help. Who's in?.

would you buy this? $400-500 each in Japan right now. Notice the tail, with the extra bar!

I think these are just hand picked Indo's and not true Saimese Widebars. Here's a few real Widebars I sold back in 2006 that is what I consider to be True Widebars. I picked up over a few dozen of these guys when they came in.

Now, are one recently for sale any less quality than a true Widebar? hell no, these Indo's are just as nice. I've had great Indo's in the past that was stable and as beautiful as a true Widebar.

For these new batches to fetch this kind of money is just fish raping at it's best..... talk about NO VASELINE.

However, people can always ask their price, It's the buyer that dictates the cost of the fish. If people buy, why would the price be any less. It comes down to self preference. If people can afford it, then hey buy it. In my own honest opininion these fish should fetch no more than $50-75 a piece at their size in today's market.

Rare fish will always come in waves. It's a rarity one minute, then 1000's show up the following week and then no one wants it anymore.

If someone wants it bad enough they will pay. I even enteratined the thought of buying one @ $250 or so. Then I woke up and realized my arse would have hurt the next day.
