very nice, but the rock piles are a bit too symmetic from the distance. Maybe move a few chunks over to the other side, to position the middle alley not quite in the center of the tank. But again: Nice work, Sarah

Fully agreed..Beyond the above, the reef looks too new and "artificial " yet...( which will sort itself out, obviously ).

What, by the way, is the depth of the sand bed? Looks too shallow.

Having said this, for someone who is starting, and starting on a low equipment and financial budget, I say this is an awesome job done by someone who already "feels" how it is to be done...

9 is the very least I can give, all things considered.

Thanks for the compliments and suggestions.
The sand is shallow... I wish we could put more in.

The live rock piles are to place the coral under the lights. The lights ...well, they suck. There is a nasty shadow right smack in the center of the tank. That top is split into two halves to open, so nothing is hung in the middle.

I'll say 8.5. As you mentioned, that shadow in the middle of the tank due to the lights kind of takes abit of effect out for me. However, it still looks fantastic. Nice job, especially considering it was done on somehwta of a "budget". :) Well done.

8. It looks good enough, and I've seen plenty worse and with the background of "behind the scenes info" I think shes done a really good job. It isn't the most exciting reef I have seen, but there is a definate correlation to funds and what goes in it I know. I wouldn't have been able to do it as good as that myself

8..... nice rock-work

If you haven't already you should really talk to Kelly D at work about it. I know that seems odd but believe it or not he really knows A LOT about keeping coral. He was pointing some things out to me the other day that could cause problems down the road with compatibility and the lighting. Yeah, I know the lighting in that tank sucks. He also had good suggestions of how to better keep the red algae under control. Personally I give it a 10 compared to how it looked before!

Yeah, Kelly gets a little over the top for what we have to work with. He'd do a multi thousand dollar set up if he could (not that I wouldn't). We spent a couple hundred on this. Of course, I do miss my 1,500 gallon reefs.
