I have seen red devil and Mayan cichlid spawn here in the wild . Well, I shouldnt say saw them spawn as only saw them guard the nest area (wooden box by lake shore).

I don't think it is at all fair to suggest feral fish are wild...

There is a world of difference between two fish in their native environment overlooking their own species and hybridizing with another... and feral fish thousands of miles from their native environment shacking up with a fish of another species...

That is true very different. In fact the countless cichlids I have caught here and never caught a hybrid.

However there are other mayans and red devils in that lake yet those 2 paired up but I dont know the out come. As never went back.

Hey everyone I'm new and need advice..I recently got a female convict three days after I put it in my tank It laid a very large amount of eggs but I have no male convict in the tank I'm not familiar with convicts so I'm not sure how they breed she is in a tank full of Africans so I put a devider in the tank now can someone tell me if these eggs are already fertal and if not how can I take a fish I already have and crossbreed it is that possable

I too want to see pics of the red devil/convicts. I bet they're adorable! *_*

Wilson, I would get your convict out of that tank. The Africans will likely kill it. They cannot crossbreed.

No pics??.....never happened
