Red saum

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you can't tell people nothing sometimes , like you said rapps is a man and so are you so do not act like u do not make mistakes

What makes you think you are beyond making any mistake??!

What you have in the pic IS a 'gold saum'.... and is a 'red saum' to you.
Likewise I have a 'gold saum' and a 'silver saum'; and I'm not going around boasting about a 'red saum' and a 'platinum saum' in person!
There's nothing called a 'red saum' unless it's scientifically identified. All adult healthy specimens of 'gold saums' will have bright red on there fins and might be given a common name of 'red saums', but that doesn't make them a seperate species. Sadly a handful of GTs get to that red fin stage.... most end up having orange fins.
Some experts here are talking about scale difference amongst the 'golds' and 'reds'... but don't you think it's just a matter of how healthy the fish is?! Coz, I have seen GTs of the same size having apparently different looking scale.... some look pretty drab compared to the better specimens.

I'm not trying to be rude to anyone.... but new knowledge should come from proper validation rather than hearsay.

i am not boosting about anything i was just showing pics of my saum , which rapps sold to me as a red saum whether there is a difference i could care less i just know its better then the average gold saum

WOW, how is he boasting?, is he not aloud to post pics of the fish he bought? if not who are you to tell him he cant?:screwy::grinno:

Your also wrong about the scientifically identified, well the gold and the silver havent yet? just because you dont see red saum commonly doesnt make them not real??? rapps is known for top quality, rare fish and thats where he bought them from. So if a rare fish was to come in the hobby it would most likely be from him.

I think you might be confused about what scale counts mean.

nice fish, but its definately no different than a regular gold saum. just so happened that a few of these showed some brighter colors out of the whole batch, they were seperated, marketed under a fancy new name and sold at a premium. reputable seller or not, it happens.

and as somebody said earlier, a healthy gold saum with good genetics will get a bright red as it matures. here's my little petsmart saum. cost me about $5 and is on his way to becoming a great looking fish
