Red Texas frys from Thailand

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow I'm shocked and amazed at the same time lol !!!
Guys let's not fight here... You all have stated good points so I'm here to clear up a few things
if you don't mind me getting in on all this...
first off the word high quality is used in my fry batch not on the
juvees or others... Here's what I'm calling high quality...
Unfaded rt fry with lots of pearls... I hand select the best of the batch and only the best...
Pre faded at 1inch most breeders keep em to grow out I don't because I I only raise flowerhorn ...
These fry are the same family as those bigger juvees...
And their from a famous rt breeder here in Bangkok I buy the batches I don't breed them that's why my
cost might be higher then others I'm sorry but things can also negotiated.. I'm good at crunching numbers.. Next I never claimed those females you saw was high quality but you can see the tube showing and she is fertile these are not the mom of those fry nor did I buy them from the same breeder some people like to practice breeding and I at least show them a fertile female that can breed... Also just to make things clear on breeding in general just because your fish doesn't look great and your pair can be the ugliest thing on the face of the earth you might just get a diamond in the ruff !!! Many beautiful fish u see on aquabid for sale I garuntee most come from ugly breeding pairs... I know because I've seen way to many in my time to back my words on it ... Next my vitamin mixture has no hormones in it just a high vitamin mix I show the ingrediants on the back of the bottle in the video it's to prove you don't have to spend a fortune on expensive fh pellets when you can take your cheap pellets add the mix and make it better then the best on the market... It's not me making that mix listen carfully it's another thai famous breeder teaching me I haven't implemented it in my food yet because it can be costly but I will test it out soon... Next... There are 3 types of Texas green Texas red Texas and srt if an orange Texas isn't a red Texas then what is it ??? Because here in this side of the globe we consider it a rt... But if I'm wrong then you can slap mr silly... Last but not least fry is always a gamble no matter what kind of fish it is... But if I can at least cherry pic some very pearly fry and lable it high quality it's because I would do my best at selecting the best from the batch to at least give the buyer a better chance at possibly getting his diamond in the ruff.. My clients are always happy and I try my best to negotiate any deals you just have to ask... Well I'm truly shocked if I have caused any arguments here.. I don't take pics of fish because I want people to see what they're getting and I've even on request have video fish with no aquarium light to show the customer before they buy I have nothing to hide and have no intentions of trying to fool anyone into buying somthing it's not... I'm honest and trust worthy ... Please don't fight... Were all hobbyist here even myself.. With that all said I see both sides of the story and everyone has their points to be taken thanks to all....

Dave & Nate (Fengshui)

Welcome to MFK, Dave & Nate!

I'm glad to see you post, definitely clears up a few things in my mind with regards to the RT that you sell, or have sold.

Just a few things that I would like to comment on.

Also just to make things clear on breeding in general just because your fish doesn't look great and your pair can be the ugliest thing on the face of the earth you might just get a diamond in the ruff !!!

With hybrid genetics it is true that sometimes two ugly ducklings will produce some nice swans, but two nice swans will generally always have far greater potential in producing more nice swans. :)

Most people don't want to buy 100 small fry to see if they end up with a few diamonds in the rough. I would assume the breeder sold those females off because they had no interest in using them in their breeding program, I think that would be a fairly realistic assumption. No matter how you slice it, they were ugly ducklings, but you are certainly free to buy & sell what you please. Their quality only came into question due to some of the comments made by one of your "quality control" supporters. Fair enough?

Next my vitamin mixture has no hormones in it just a high vitamin mix I show the ingrediants on the back of the bottle in the video it's to prove you don't have to spend a fortune on expensive fh pellets when you can take your cheap pellets add the mix and make it better then the best on the market...

Just for the record, I never stated that this vitamin mix contained hormones, I questioned the blood red base color, and mentioned Carophyll Pink, which is a chemically synthesized form of astaxanthin used by many breeders in SE Asia (including Bangkok) to artificially enhance the color red. (some food manufacturers use it as well) I have also stated numerous times on this forum that no one needs to buy expensive FH (cough-cough) specialty foods in order to get great results with their fish, there are pellets on the market that contain far more nutrients (including vitamins & trace minerals) than what I could read off of that label, and will not break the bank when feeding ones FH.

Next... There are 3 types of Texas green Texas red Texas and srt if an orange Texas isn't a red Texas then what is it ??? Because here in this side of the globe we consider it a rt... But if I'm wrong then you can slap mr silly...

Agreed, an orange based texas cross is an RT, there is no one arguing that point, but the person that started this discussion appeared to be looking for a higher quality RT with more of a red base, not orange. Below is his exact quote:
But how are his stock...does he have whats going around or does he have at least 2-3 A+++ Grade Red Texas

Fengshui has Red Texas that is worth $300...bright red with white pearls, not dark or orange or yellow.

My advice to the OP was that if that is the quality of RT/SRT that he is looking for, then he should consider buying a fish already showing those traits.

and finally ....

Last but not least fry is always a gamble no matter what kind of fish it is... But if I can at least cherry pic some very pearly fry and lable it high quality it's because I would do my best at selecting the best from the batch to at least give the buyer a better chance at possibly getting his diamond in the ruff..

Which is exactly what I have stated over & over again in this discussion, buying fry is a gamble, especially with unfaded RT's. At least by hand picking the more pearly fry from the spawn you have decreased the odds of buyers getting an ugly duckling. :)

No one is questioning your honesty or integrity Dave, at least I certainly haven't, and it's good to see you come in to this discussion to clear up some of the questions regarding the fish that you are selling. Ditto to you, Chris.

Best of luck to both of you with your future endeavors.

I Totally agree with everything you just said...and no doubt about it you know your stuff....

Its people like you guys that keep the hobby strong, and helping people with their questions when they are new to the hobby or just want to hear other peoples opionions whether they wish to beleive it not is what makes it more interesting and intruiging....

Glad to finally be apart of MFK, Kao and Chris were iching to show me this great site and all it's potential and knowledge, and now Im glad they did.... Hope I can share some of my experiences with the world of fish enthusiasts and hobbyist, and a good debate every once and a while makes for a really great thread...
