I lived in Florida for 30 years and kept piranhas, if you had been around you would have narced me out, right?

At the time I was a cop..............keeping illegal fish is a victimless crime.

And you are a hero..........in your own mind. Glad I no longer live in Florida with you around Superman.

You report many jay walkers?
A cop and keeping illegal fish. In the spirit of your post........take many bribs?

there's a difference between you and some random kid who buys the piranhas off craigslist because "piranhas are badass" and wants to brag about them to his friends, but doesn't know much about fishkeeping.

Sorry Sgt. Slaughter. If someone is brazen enough to post knowingly illegal fish for sale online, a person who from the looks of their post clearly have no idea or concern for what they are doing, do they not deserve to be reported? Its called culling the herd, sir. If you are dumb enough to advertise your crime via the internet, sometimes you deserve a consequence.

I suppose for those 30 years, you were above the law........... in your own mind. However, I'm pretty sure you were a security guard at your local mall. Cheers.

you do know that if they get caught and they get taken away the fish will most likely just be killed right?

Yes I do understand that, but sadly, one of two things will happen here either way..

A) He will sell to someone who does not know how to care for them, and they die anyways
B) He releases into the wild, where they either die, or become a greater problem.

Wow, this really pisses me off for a few reasons, first of all, lets say that you are the hero of your town and catch someone selling illegal piranhas, do you think that the FBI is gonna fly them back to the lake that they came from so they can live happily and thrive, or do you think that they will simply be killed? There is a higher chance of the piranhas living a good life if somebody buys them, even if they are incompetent, secondly why is this your problem? Keeping illegal fish is really not a big deal, releasing snakheads into a lake where they can thrive and reproduce is a differnt story but this really doesnt matter, if you wanna help doante to charity or something, dont do this.

Has it ever crossed your mind that somebody who knoes how to care for fish, or cares enough to look them up will buy them????????

you're right, I think it is ridiculous how they pick and choose which fish are legal or not here. my issue is not with the fish being kept, it is with being sold on a public site like craigslist where someone with only marginal fishkeeping ability/interest will buy them.

I have to say this just don't sit right with me... I personally know many many people who keep Asia Aro's in the US.. And i just can't see the point? We all want to keep these fish as (Monster Fish Keepers) correct? I just think there is much more important thing's to worrie and spend tax dollars... Maybe the (hungry)? I just can't see a true hobbyist trunning in one of our own? jmo
