Restarting a Monster Comm

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The two malas are doing fine at the moment. :)

Each has its own place though the larger one roams around brazenly at times.

Just added an African aro inside. A really peaceful dude. (Will add some pics later on).

The Aimara will be coming in early next week.

For another top swimmer, I am still in between African Pike, Dorado or GATF.

I will be a very contended man by then.

An update on my larger Mala first. This guy is a hopeless glutton and pretty docile.

Girth has grown a lot and perhaps half an inch longer? :)

Update on new additions.

2 snakes and an African Aro.

Going to remove the newer / larger Pleuro though. They stopped fighting among each other but the newer guy is getting into scrappy mode. Cannot afford to risk him around the incoming Aimara. :(

Nice additions red Aimara!

Thanks guys.

As with many monster comm, its a hit and miss for me. Besides the Pleuro, I will probably shift the Oscar out as well. Its bioload will probably overload the tank real soon.

Most monster tanks are hit or miss. These fish don't commune with each other. But we try to make it happen captain lol.

I think u might be due for a tank upgrade soon right? Especially with Aimara coming soon and ur gar if I remember correctly.

Possibly by end of the year.

There is another tank on standby but I am exploring the possibility of get a really big one possible 500 gallon but the cost could be prohibitive.

At the moment, it's just trying my best to groom these guys to at least 16 inches by then.

Your foot print is good I'd say, just the more fish you add the more the biology becomes and the more crowded it becomes. And you're adding pretty large fish.

True. I am afraid once the fishes grown to their average sizes my tank will be a JDM one.

The Aimara is coming in on Monday (literally counting the hours :D), things that I have done to accommodate so far:

1. Cleared up 2 compartments of my sump of old media. Filled it up with K1. Will add in more once they begin to sink and "boil".

2. Another driftwood with attached plants to create more "territories".

3. Shifted out an Oscar, Eartheater, Pike Cichlid and a Pleuro that was bought 2 days ago. Strictly based on their temperaments which may not be conducive to the new Aimara.

Will perhaps add in a few Odoes once the Aimara is in and settled nicely.
