once a week... i just use aquasafe water conditioner...
With such a big bioload, and weak filter, you need to be doing more waterchanges. From what you say now, i think its fin rot due to bad water. Like haychinook said, you might want to upgrade to a bigger tank, and get a better filter, also do some more water changes, like 2 per week 30-50% each w/c.

what kind of filter.. all i know is the tetra 50 to 60 gal.. 50 $

you say it is a fin rot? umm just wanna make sure if its fin rot should i buy a medicine for it? and ive taken pictures of my arowana fins but i dont know how to upload it here...

Meds are not the solution here. What you need is water changes and correct the filtratin capacity. You still haven't answered my questions about water parameters and test kit. Do you have a test kit? What are the water parameters?

x2, for fin rot, best solution is clean water plus salt. Test your water and see what comes out.

ALOT more filters out there. Id recommend getting an eheim canister. 2215 would be good for your 50 gallon tank.

3x the fin rot
i think there is a thread on the forums about how to put pictures up

yeah man get some pics on here..

my silver arowana is about 3-4 inches long? bout the same size as yours? and sometimes arowanas hit a point in their life where they just get some nips and cuts in their fins..its natural and should go away in at MOST a couple weeks, if not, get some melafix and make sure your other fish arent giving the arowana these nips and cuts..
hope this helps some? ha pics are needed
