Ropefish Care Website

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love the site only 2 things to note in the care section mine actually prefer the high flow side of my tank constantly playing in the output. Also in the fish size section you say the max size is 18" then the next sentence says "This is the size one should expect when purchasing the fish." While I think 18" is bigger than most people will see I do believe it is possible. However the next line is confusing making people think this is the size to expect in stores not the 7"-11" I usually see.

Agreed on the flow.

Beamers favorite "play" area is the bubble wall and high flow area. She does prefer to huddle on the other side where the water is a bit calmer.

Overall I think it’s a nice compilation of information. Nice to see ropes being given some good attention! I like that you mention plants - both planted and floating. I think they’re more important to ropes than other polys.

They are easily sexed by the anal fins as you mention - easier than other polys IMO. I didn’t notice a color difference betweeen my males and female.

I can’t imagine a rope eating an adult Congo though. Not sure it would be possible unless a juvenile Congo...?

It's a good point to show that these cute little fishes are actually predators and good ones too. As for adult congos Im not to sure, but I wouldn't put it past them especially if it was a weaker specimen.

I’ve seen it done. Full size ropefish are quite thick and can eat things a bit wider than they are. I’ve seen congos eaten and blue gularis killifish eaten. These were large and old ropefish, though. A 10” rope won’t be able to.

Yeah, I guess mine were only 12" and my congos were quite large, so I guess I could see an older rope and smaller congo happening... the killi makes more sense because they're more torpedo shaped.

I do agree that it should be pointed out that they are predators!
