I have a rtc and tiger shovelnose both about 3". What can I keep with them? I have a common pleco now I plan to keep with them. Would a Oscar work ok with them? I know once they cats hit their 2ft size he would make a snack but for now would it work?

whether or not you raise them in tanks that are big enough and move them to larger tanks before they are too big for the tank they are in, you can expect your TSN to become RTC chow, as well as the oscar and whatever else you put in the tank that will fit in it's mouth.

It's in a 75 gallon till alittle after x-mas then 300 gallon. And if these fish grow as fast a everyone says maybe a pound. Is 300 gallons really to small for a rtc and shovelnose for a year? Please forgive me I am new to catfish only did cichlids before.

Also won't the shovelnose keep up in growth rate with the rtc? If needed I can keep him separate till the size difference equals out.

Rtc and TSN Grow at an insane rate you would probably be ok for a year maybe two with the 300 gallon before it was time for a pond

Some times people on the internet get a little crazy with the tank size needed for fish

This is NOT one of those times RTCs are monsters and the true definition of a "tank buster"

they both grow quite quickly, but the RTC will outgrow your TSN, it won't be a contest.

the 300 will likely be good for a year.. maybe even 18 months. but your RTC will reach 2 ft. before it's 2 years old and a 300 gallon is going to be too small before the RTC before that.

Ok I wasn't really sure how to take it. I have iridescent shark and it's 2 1/2yrs old and is only 6" on 75gallon. He hasn't grown for a yr now and everyone said it would be so big and so on. P.s. My water quality is good and he is well fed so its not owner error he hasn't grown. What size tank is needed to keep a rtc and shovelnose? And please now 1,500 gallon answers. I like to watch fish. I find pounds dull and boring. Thanks for the answers so far!

How Often do you do Water Changes and how much? What is your filtration and What exactly do you feed your Pangasius Catfish to stunt it so? And I'm sorry but the answer to your problem is 1500gal ponds no way around it....

I think I can tell you're looking for someone to tell you they'll all be okay in a 300gal so you can wait for that one person to answer your prayer, but you might have to search another forum
