have you seen a marked improvement in water clarity

That is a tricky question.

Here's why, I always thought my water looked hazy so I got the Purigen to help clear things up. After a few days it still would look the same. This was with 3 water changes a week of at least 30g on Mon, Wed, Fri. My fish are not that big and not that messy so what gives? Why the hazy water?

Watching the tank some more I realized that during the day my tanks looked great, it was only at night that I had issues. Then it hit me, it was the lighting that cast a yellow tone to the tank at night. I replaced the tubes with some GE aquarium lights from Lowes and now the water looks clear and clean.

So in my case I did not notice any change because of the funky lighting.

I have never used this product before but after reading this I am going to have to give it a try!

Cool thanks...
looks like it (the BAG) can be bleached as well, good!!
because I can see where this fine fine media could get away from you, cleaning it...
5" x 10" ought to hold 500ml. no prob...
Yeah it probably could no prob. I used two bags so the water doesn't completely bypass the bag as it wouldn't cover a whole area of the ac110 .

Everytime I recharge I just leave the purigen in the bag no problem as well ! I love em. Next time im gonna get the 100 ml packs though as they aren't that bad of a price.

Y'all are both bats%&* crazy if you're willing to pay 8 bux for a media bag! I expect more from serious MFK'ers like you! Petsmart sells several sizes of the same bag, but made by HBH, and the biggest is like 99cents. I thought Petco was nuts for trying to charge $3 for one. Walmart sells mesh lingerie washing bags for dirt cheap as well. If you want to spend 0 dollars, the biomax bag that came with your AC filters is about 4 times as big as it needs to be & you can easily cut off half and just put a knot in the bottom. 8 dollars....sheesh...:grinno:

8 bones? Yeah. They sell several types of nylon mesh at the asian dollar store.
