Is your Purigen pink after recharge? I've gone and recharged mines twice, each time around a day and it still comes out pink.
It should be good to go. I soak mines in Safe for a day, rinse in fresh water then put in back in my canister with no troubles. I read at Seachem that tannins will stain Purigen however my wood stopped leaching tannins years ago. What is funny is that when soaking it bleach it is white but as soon as I move/swirl the water the Purigen turns pink.I have just recently recharged my Purigen and yes some of the granules have turned pink, I then soaked it in Prime and Water for about 12 hours but now it's just in a bucket of water as I am concerned about putting it back in the FX5 after using bleach to recharge it, I don't want to kill my fish. Is there anyway of testing the Purigen to make sure its safe before using it again in my tank?
Mine does the same thing on occasions bt never caused an issue. It should be good to go. I soak mines in Safe for a day, rinse in fresh water then put in back in my canister with no troubles.
