Ok, So how horrible is the sting from a stingray? Can it be fatel? Or is it similar to a jellyfish sting? I know they say they usually do not lash out for no reason and have to be provoked to sting, but it I am cleaning the tank what would happen if I get stung? Another thing I haven't seen much on, is their sexual maturety, at what age do they begin breeding? In the wild are they like most shark species, do they live in large groups or are they more solitare?
The stingray normally do not sting, most of the time is just accident. However, i guess every ray have their own charactor, some may be aggressive one of these day, you never know. so always be careful when handlign them. The poison from the sting can be quite serious though, the poison will make you so painful, heart beat will increase and you may feel a little dissy.

I know a quick fix method and i have tried it ;-). the poison of the ray is one kind of protein, it can be fixed with high temperature. If you get stung, first you can stop the poison from spreadigng to other parts of body by socking the part that got stung into hot water, the hotter the better, may be around 60C, sock inside for about 15 minutes, then seek help from doctor. after the socking, normally there is no more pain and all the sign of poisoning will be gone.

i hope this is helpful to all ray keeper.

there is a sticky on getting stung by rays.... i keep a copy near my tank at all times just incase so i can bring it with me to the hospital if needed...

actually the poison is not that bad la.... i got stung 2 times already, no problem....never go to hospital, hahaha ;-) but i do put my hand into hot water, actually very very nervous.... hahaha

action above is dangerous, kids don't learn it without supervision.... hahaha

Really?

personally i only see people getting stung when they are careless and stupid... if you avoid a stupid situation then you wont get stung.... if the ray is burrowed in sand dont assume you know where the tail is and mess with it....

Ok so, stay aware... Don't be stupid, and if an accident does happen seek hot water and medical attention... Got it, I was afraid that I would die, lol....
