Shortfin eels

Any recent pics of yours?

Apologies, spotfin spotfin - here's from a few minutes ago, just after B'fast; I'll try to get another pic or who when the calm down. The tank is 24" tall and big-girl(?) grabs a suspended arowana prawn from above-surface & tail is 2/3s of the way to the sand, so ~14" long, maybe a bit more. Smart, pretty, active, fun, but a little rambunctious/destructive as they get bigger. It's been suggested these won't get much bigger, but it's soon-time to return to the river regardless. Jan-Feb is elver season so can start again.
The clowns used to coordinated-mob & muscle the eels, steering them off a clam. Not so much at this size.
The sand/substrate is a Halimeda "oats" marine sand. Fantastic stuff, but a headache to get & a little fragile - we collect ~100' depth and it lasts 10yrs or so.

Thanks for the photos and update! They look really nice. I remember your pics from when they were much smaller. You could always upgrade to a bigger tank?
I should keep one someday. For work, I catch all life stages.
Interesting side note, I saw some glass eels at my study pond just before Thanksgiving.
