Aquascape ships well ime and they work with you if somethings happens to the fish during shipping or the day of being put in the tank. They'll replace or give you store credit. And I agree with aquanero on the price difference and I sureness of drop eye.

Bump to this thread as the new tank finally arrived. Its a bit smaller than i initially planned.

So the tank is 96x30x24 are these dimensions ok for a leichartdi or black aro ?

Also should mention there is rambunctious pearsei along with a bunch of polys

Lei's are laid back ? Not aggro like jars ? Dont see an issue with the polys but how do you feel about the pearsei ?

Not sure about cichlids. I don't keep any ever so not sure. I assume it'll be fine with cover/plants/decor. Should be fine with the polys. They aren't as aggressive as the Jardinis that's for sure.

Leichardti are more laid back than jardini. It takes a little while to warm up to new tank mates though. You could get a couple years out of the tank but eventually would have to upgrade. You rarely see them at full size. My largest is 27".

What species are you interested in? Most Silvers are farmed, the others are mostly wild caught so that's where the big price discrepancy comes from. Monster in NY or Aquascape has 3" Silvers for 35, 3" Leichardti for 280, 3" Jardini for 150 to give you an idea of cost.

3" jardinii for $150?! dam that expensive... i would never pay that much for a 3" jar...

lei's can be killers too, just depends on the personality of the individual fish.
i have had lot of jardiniis in the past large and small and i have had only one
super aggressive killing machine whereas the rest were pretty chill and laid
back.

Thats good to know about lei's thx.

My main concern is that our Percy is a troublemaker. I can absolutely see him starting trouble and not being able to finish it he really is like the family pet and if the new Aro where to kick his butt the aro would be the one that had to go.
May be best to let my son choose between a black and another poly

if you really want a arowana and want to keep it in a community setting but dont like
sikvers/blacks why not consider the african arowana? they by far the least aggressive
out of all the arowanas and can also grow a good 3-3.3'. african arowanas are awesome.
