I've got a boat load of these guys about half way between fry and juvie size. You can have them for the shipping. They're shell dwellers, but Malawis.

http://malawicichlids.com/mw09007t.htm

They don't get very big and are peaceful.

I have some other fry, Red Empress, Labeotropheus fuelleborni, a couple of others. Oh, Labidochromis caeruleus is another group. I will have some Pundamilia nyererei (Lake Victorian, Makobe Island) soon.

I'll be honest, I've never shipped fish...but if our friends at MFK can talk us through it and you're interested, they're yours!

OH MY GOODNESS! I LOVE THEM! I am definitely interested. Can you tell me a bit more about them? Like PH and stuff? Are you saying you'll give them to me for the price of the shipping only? If so you are a very generous person. Either that or they're prolific breeders? I do want some that will breed. How many would you send me what would be the cost and what size are they? I'm assuming about an inch since these guys don't get more than 3 inches.

I have an oscar is a 75 gallon and he's growing like a weed. I personally think a 55 gallon is too small.

Hi Liz,

Sorry, I went to bed shortly after posting :)

The ph here runs pretty high...8.0 is an average. As thoroughly as I check my water, ph is the one thing I don't check. Everything I have read says it's hard to control ph and like any parameter, swings will effect fish more than having less than ideal conditions.

I got a M/F pair in October, the female was holding already. She released her fry without me knowing...I found two and put them in the nursery. Those two are around 1" to 1-1/2" long now. They had another group recently, but they're pretty tiny still.

The L. fuelleborni are the biggest group I have...they're the fastest growers too. They are all about 1-1/2". To me, they are a gorgeous fish! They're are sort of peachy/orange with blue splotches or stripes. The Dad is a Marbled Cat...pretty rare. There are some marbled fry, but I can't tell male or female yet. The adults are around 5" and very docile.

The electric yellow fry are gorgeous! But, I have to admit, I don't know for sure if they are pure. She was in a general Cichlid tank and, well, accidents happen :) They are very pretty even for fry, but not sure what will happen as they grow.

The others I don't know much about. I bought the Red Empress at a swap meet auction and the other group, I don't even remember what they are lol. I can contact the guy I bought them from and find out.

The Maylandia and L. Fuellerboni have been in my 55g Comminity tank for the last couple of weeks. I like acclimating them to community life for awhile before giving them away or releasing them into my Cichlid tank.

You're welcome to the two Maylandia, maybe a half dozen of the of the L. fuelleborni and if you are interested in the Labs, Red Empress or "mystery fry", just say so!

Since I haven't shipped before and would be very concerned that you might get dead fish, I would want to take every shipping precaution possible. We'll have to get others to chime in and what I need to do on this end to make sure your fish arrive happy and safe!

Take care!

Thats awesome CLDarnell. Ive never shipped a fish personally but a work for an LFS. I think it's as simple as overnight shipping, heat packs, lots of water and air in the bag and a slw acclimation afterwards. but let's hear from someone who's done it.

When I had fish shipped to me from another MFKer he used a flat rate box...cost $11.99 throught UPS. His name is JeffreyMoorehead and all my fish arrived live and well. You might try PMing him to get some tips. He is in East Texas and I am in San Antonio. Hope this helps!!

I will take the two Maylandia and half a dozen of the Fuellerboni. They seem like a good mix. do you think 6 Fuellerboni and 2 (hopefully male and female) Maylandia would be good in a 55? Those are both pretty. So will the Fuellerboni eat algae? I don't think it'll be a problem cuz I have two bristles in there that keep the tank spotless of algae and spotless of zuchini/ cucumber very well. If it should become a problem between them and the Fuellerboni I have another tank the bristles can go to. They love it in there though. They've started to grow wiskers!!! I'm excited. I love raising fish. How easy are the Maylandia to find? Because I'll most definitely eventually want more of those guys! A colony... he he. Maybe 8-10 individuals eventually. I'll move the bristles out though cuz them plus all those cichlids would be overstocked. Heh... but not for a while I sort of move them around according to algae growth. I"m so excited now.

We're a bit further away from each other. I would not want this to take anymore than 24-48 hours depending on weather and the heat pack. Breather bags... the whole nine yards.
