I'm hopefully getting my first poly in the next 2 months, I just need to set up a small quarantine tank (10 gals would work right?)

Luckily I can't afford to buy loads of polys and I think I can only house one in my 70 gal otherwise I would likely be overstocked

Why are you expecting your plants to fail?

Do you have an upgrade plan at some point for the endli and ornate? I am a bichir newbie but in my head they both will eventually need more room... esp. if you plan on adding more.
