Silver Saum or Green Terror - Opinions please

a silver saum and a true green terror are not the same

Green terrors are just common trade name for various species. So what if someone calls a gold saum a green terror. So what if someone has an aequidens rivulatus. Personally, I like saums much better than aequidens rivulatus.

Here is a good link explaining what I have been saying in this thread:

It has pics of gold and silver and true green...

Tom's article really does a great job summing it up. The fact is the scientific names here are a mess. There are 3 fish being discussed here, Silver Saums, Gold Saums, and Silber Saums. All 3 are commonly known as Green Terrors, with Gold Saums being by far the most common, and Silber Saums by far the least. When speaking about the TRUE Green Terror, people are referring to th Silber Saum and Tom outlines in his article. They are smaller, a different irridescent pattern and different coloring in the fins, particularly a bronze. I have 7 of Tom's F1's, and as far as we know Im the only one who has gotten some F2's out of his. They are definately much different fish, however all of them very cool. The initial picture in tis thread is a Silver Saum.

Great thread though, there's plenty of room for discussion here, because really none of it has been sorted out yet when we get down to the scientific names for them all.

Do you plan on breeding any more? I would (of course) love to have a Silber.

I plan on breeding more, yes, but I do currently have fry as well. They are only 3 weeks old at this point, but the growth has been amazing. In another 3-4 weeks they should be available for shipping. If you are interested shoot me a PM and we can make arrangements. Ive already set some aside for others as pre-orders, but there are still plenty to speak for.

Actually I forgot I had this, but here is a video of the breeding pair. The fry weren't free swimming at this point yet, but you get an idea of what the parents look like. Coloring is terribly represented due to my bad camera work and inability to transfer high quality video, but you get the idea:
