do you believe everyone is like you? you should know by now that not everyone reacts the same way, doesn't make them selfish, just different for various reasons. i know people who talk a big game but as soon as a fight breaks out, they turn into a gentlemen or simply run away. in a perfect world we'd all be lil soldiers ready to jump into action but let's face it, we aren't.

No, I don't think everyone is like me, or should be like me. I don't know what "like me" even means. I'm not claiming to be a soldier, but I'm far from a deer in headlights. I'm just saying that I wouldn't be ok with myself if I threw my hands up in the air and watched my friend get shot. There is a word for people like that. here

I believe I said 2 punches.:D But honestly, it would take a hopelessly selfish person to stand there and watch and do nothing. All those things you mentioned won't mean anything once he shoots me and turns to you. He was out numbered four to one and they were in a small room. If he shot the one guy, would you want to live the rest of your life knowing that you stood there and did nothing? Like Phil Collins says...

They should've never forced him into the room, I think the policy is that u can place your hand on him to guide him where u want him to go, but if he refused, u can't force him to go to that room. And when in that room they cant force him to stay. They were trying to force him to stay and thats when the gun was pulled out. And if I watched someone get shot and did nothing, I'd feel bad for the victim, but I'd sleep fine in my bed and would be fine looking in my mirror everyday because my kids still have a dad

And the act of not getting involved wouldn't be hopelessly selfish because if I'm thinking of my children, it'd be anything but selfish wouldn't it?

If it had been a bank robbery, what should have been done? Right answer: put your head down and live to tell about it.

I was in the Marine Corps in the early 90s. I'm not afraid of conflict or fights. I've been solo in the middle east (a few years back) and wondered if I was going to show up on the next beheading video or hotel bombing. I am smart enough to know that making yourself a target is the worst thing you can do. Making yourself stand out is not the right way to keep breathing.

Here is the interview. Their story is very disjointed, and they make several contradictory claims as to what happened and how it happened.

Either way, I'm not ok with the perp's actions, the actions of the guards, nor WalMart's.

I guess you an I aren't going to agree on this, we have different points of view, which really is fine. I agree with you that it should have never escalated that far. But since it did, I say that the men in that room acted 100% correctly. Being fired for disarming a gunman in their place of work is asinine

You got to look at Wal-Mart's point of view. I can only imagine the lawsuit from the families that will happen if the gunman shot and killed anyone of them, what if he would've shot and killed all 4 of them.

What if games are fun aren't they? Pointless, but fun.
What if the gunman shot a bunch of customers if they did not stop him?

i get your point purp but how about a corrective? warning? did they really need to be fired?

It company policy, they already know what would happen. It's just like ALL BANKS, if you are bring robbed, YOU MUST COMPLY WITH ALL DEMANDS. If you do not and escalate the situation, you will be fired afterward. If you do comply and not escalate, you will receive a bonus and get few days off.
