I am glad to hear about this! I have been reading this thread but haven't posted on it for some reason. But I am glad he made it through the operation just fine!
I too have been following the "Snappy Saga" but didn't post. Glad to hear that everything went well! I think your idea for a sticky is great. I was also glad to hear that the kids (as well as the parents I'm sure) were so behind this and raised the funds so quick. I know far too many people, school mascot or not, that would be like "oh well, its just a turtle". Best of luck and a speedy recovery!
He seems ready to go home - He left a big old Snapping Turtle mess in our tub last night... 
His new Eheim 2217 arrived from Petsolutions yesterday, I picked up a couple new 36" UV bulbs at Reptile Kingdom (VERY cool little store in Eugene, this guy breeds Galapagos!), and I polished the inside and outside of his tank. I will post pix when he is back home.

I took Snappy back to his tank at the school today. School is out for Martin Luther King Jr. day, so the kids will get to welcome him back in the morning!
These are photos of him back in his remodeled tank. The heater and filter intake are in the PVC enclosure, I took care to make everything extra safe.
