so how many silver arowanas has everyone gone though?

I have gone through 2 slivers one at 5inches my first and then their was my 13-14inch sliver arowana they were both in my 40g breeder, i had problems with parasites like worms, ick and tail rott. I did 60percent water change for 2weeks every morning and night for that long. then i toss in my electric cat fish to zap them them Raskcals!!!:shocked: :D
 
This is our 3rd Arowana..and if anything happens to him i do not want anymore.. the first one lived until he was 2 feet..old chinese proverb ..that an Arowana will give up his life to save you or someone in your family.. well the same night he jumped out of the tank i ended up in ICU after knee operation..has anyone heard this proverb about the Arrow before?? I cannot remenber where i read it? Anyway the second Arrow jumped out of the tank..he was in a 220 gal with 2 small pacu..that was the worst..seeing the big guy laying on the floor in the morning when i went into feed the fish.. he was almost 3 feet... really broke my heart.. so broke down and bought another.. he is by himself except for pleco's and syn cat. So far he seems very level headed..but like one of you mentioned about lighting .. the only thing that shakes this guy up is if i do not put his lite on.. if his tank is dark and i am walking around it must be the reflection that bothers him..so his light goes on right away.. you learn little tricks.. he knows when the light goes on he gets a few arrow pellets.. he is about 16 inches now..wish me luck!!! Oh and I tape the top glass and also weigh it down... he may want to go but i am not going to make it easy for him.

They are a great fish.. how big is your new guy.. don't forget to weigh the glass down.. they should have special locks on the glass for these guys.. all those years of raising all these arrow's and then in one instance you lose them.. lots of luck with yours!
 
Still working on getting the first one.. For around 15 years waiting... :) Still don't know if i want to get one now or wait til i upgrade from my 250 to a larger tank... I was decided to do it.. But now am not..

I have read and read and read... Yet still don't know.,. So i'll wait.. The 250 is almost complete, and i was set on an aro... Now i am once again thinking ... Hopefully i will make a decision soon :)
 
3rd, 1st jumped out at 19", second was just too damn little to survive and the 3rd one is on his way as we speak, from Hong Kong. (wonder what they do with an Aro for the 2 weeks it takes to get here?) 3rd time's a charm, right?
 
Good luck with your new arrow on the way.. what a trip for the poor guy.. yes the 3rd time is a charm..you know so much more..
