Anyone in LA...

Know where to find the cheapest GARs?

spotted/marble gator type gars.


something under $15
about 3-4 inches.

Preferably in the 213 Area.

We should have reviews of these fish shops everyone visited.
 
gars are banned? wow, if so, that is probably one of the most un-enforced laws i've ever seen. granted, i see rays/asian aro's occasionally, but not as often as i see gars.

I've been meaning to visit the fish stores listed on the thread... I've just been so busy... I haven't had time to... once I get a chance I'll put up rating and description of each store... I'm also taking suggestions on what to name the review...
 
I live in Redondo Beach (310), here are the good shops in my area (in order of best to worst)

Fish City--Just moved locations on crenshaw bl and rosecrans. Old asian dude smokes in the shop..awesome! He has the best deals and best fish cause he's well connected. Example: I just bought a pair of 5" clown loaches for $20 a piece. Didn't even want them but couldn't pass that up!
Neptune's Reef--on PCH, in torrance by chuck E cheese, has the biggest selection of freshwater by far. Hit or miss with quality. Pricey but they know their stuff.
Jim's Exotic Fish--on Sepulveda in El segundo by sizzler, has quality fish
7 Seas Tropical Fish--on gaffey and 2nd street in San Pedro, lots of big fish!
Tom's Tropical Fish--on PCH in Lomita. Great cichlids and plecos, pricey
Fish Wonders--on PCH in Hermosa Beach. All beginner freshwater, decent saltwater. Hot Asian chick owns it!
Aloha Tropical Fish--in torrance on hawthorne bl by gable house bowl. Boring selection...
Petco and Petsmart--good for emergency items like heaters. I usually get my supplies through mail order. I would rather drop bleach in my tanks than put their livestock in them!

Would love to find out about shops in the Long Beach Area...Bueller?
