Any suggestions on an eel? Never kept one before.I would stay closer to the 12in mark.
Here is a 12in Amphilophus in a 18in wide tank

Now if we are talking an eel that are more "bendy" you could go bigger you would think.
The Pink Chalceus has really sparked my interest. This would be a solo recommendation for this tank correct? I am seeing recommendations as well to keep them in school but other members are saying thats when the aggression comes out.A catfish like a gulper. There are some larger barbs or tetras like the pink chalceus or flag tail.
Lol, I am really looking for an active mid upper level swimmer.Just do a poly tank join the dark side

A co-worker has a large poly tank I frequent getting my fix there for now.

I am just not a fan of the "standard" cichlids. The lfs did have a 10in butterkoferi that sparked my interest. Bout the first time I found myself considering a cichlid though. I guess with the prevalence in the hobby I just dont find them all that unique, at the same time tho I keep a lot on angels....You are looking for one really personable fish when the reality is their are many and most can live together my jack dempsey has more personality than any oscar I have he does barrel roles when he sees me a jack with tons of upper jaw bichirs would be cool
