Thats the problem, I live in Turkey. Here cichlids and livebearers are in demand so monster fish are rare. Thats why I was looking for a site that sent them abroad.Depending on where you live, you can find them occasionally. If you live in the US, top tier stores are wetspot, petzone, and aqua imports. Occasionally predatory fins, but they are quite pricey.
Eh will do that. Pretty sure I can get a Ropefish tho.You may have to settle for some not so rare species. Imo your best bet is other fish keepers or stores in the UK.
My hujeta gars aren't jumpy at all. In fact, I've kept 8 different specimens and none of them were jumpy.Hujeta gars are to jumpy and need a bigger tank but rope fish and deal would work. I had a pair of dels in a 75g and they had plenty of room
How many should I put in if I get them ?My hujeta gars aren't jumpy at all. In fact, I've kept 8 different specimens and none of them were jumpy.
They aren't that active and tend to hover in a spot most of the time. The 65 gallon should be enough for hujetas.
They can be kept singly, in pairs or in a shoal. I have 4 so I think 4-5 should be a good number. How many should I put in if I get them ?
Eh sounds about right. They max out at 10" or so anyway. Might get myself a pair and see If they work out. Could they live with Angelfish ? I know they would eat my Platies so I will rehome them but my Rainbow Shark and Angel I want to keep so.They can be kept singly, in pairs or in a shoal. Expect the growth rate to be slow. They grow relatively quickly until about 6 inches and then they slow wayyy down. Mine have been stuck at 6-7 inches for almost a year.
Noted. I really like predatory fish but because of the tank size seems like I dont have many options. What else would you reccomend apart from the ones already mentioned ?They are killers hejuta's. So platies will be good food. Also i heard that they may get aggresive towards eachother when older.
So in such a small tank it might be better to get one instead of a pair or a group. The same goes for butterfly fish.
You could keep a butterfly and a hejuta do. (i have both aswell and goes perfect aldo my tank has more surface area.)
Hejutas are quite easy to keep when they eat everything but sometimes its very hard to get them to eat anything but life fish. So be prepared to waste a bit of money on lifefood if u get one that doesnt already eat frozenfish.
I also do think that 1,20x 45cm is a bit small for an adult hejuta gar.
