Some things will be Obsolete ....maybe we will miss them

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm not giving up my books, televisions, newspapers and even music. Still enjoy these stuff. I've been an avid bookworm since birth (maybe? I saw my old baby pics of me reading books) so this habit will never change.

How about the desk top computer?

Cell phones and PDAs can do anything on the Internet and more. Game consoles like ps3, wii and xbox 360 are squeezing from the other side not to mention that tv's are rapidly being developed for Internet and more interactive use. And let's not forget the laptop. There doesn't seem to be much room left for a giant stationary machine that can't do anything more than most of your other gadgets can.

I disagree with the "music" one. The music industry may be long overdue for an overhaul but music will never die. As long as man breathes we will have inspiration for beauty and nothing is more beautiful than song. Take it from me, a musician who almost lost his wife and his job just for the opportunity to take my music on the road. There was no money in it for me, in fact I'm still hemorrhaging money from tours and will continue to bleed my funds try just to share the creamy sounds of my Fender Telecaster. Nobody needs a record label for that...

nah, i dont agree with that. heavy regulation leads to no good. look at the airline industry. people think all that regulation makes us safe, but the whole industry is a mess. i believe in free markets. a free market is a healthy market. mail and shipping is no different than any other service industry, the government should not be in it. just look what's happening with healthcare :)

No offense, but you can't prove that FAA regulation has ruined the airline industry. You can't prove that the airline industry would be safer without the FAA. You also can't prove the free-market theory to be true. And healthcare? I'm not even going to address that. Basically, you're using rightwing buzz words and rhetoric to attempt to make your points. You've allowed this to become political.

last month, Amazon.com sold more e-books than real (paper) books.

surprising.

but I can see some real advantages to them:

1. older people who can't see as well don't need to find large print books (which are barely available). all they have to do is click a button and bingo, the font is as big as they need it to be.

2. you don't need good light to read an e-book - the screen is lit.

3. takes up less space, obviously.

4. no one can lose your page LOL

so in a way, its not hard to see why..

for the same reasons why newspapers and magazine sales are down globally the last 10 years, same with real books.

wtf? :screwy: when and how did i make this political? thats stupid to even say. you said you would like to see tight government regulation of mail delivery, and i said that only makes more of a mess, then pointed to healthcare and the airline industry. wtf does that have to do with left or right wing anything?
