If you don't have your own kids, how would you know? You do know that kids behave differently in front of you and in front of their parents, right?

I have friends, I remember watching them get punished and watching them get scared. I do know they behave differently, because my friends would always complain about their parents when they are not around them. When they're around their parents they are very different, calm and quiet almost afraid to make a mistake.

My son's citizenship is perfect in school, at home, not so much ;)

Personally speaking, i think getting spanked can be an effective form of punishment up until a certain age and under certain circumstances as a lot of people have mentioned, but once they are in or say near there teens it does tend to be a lot less effective and i'll agree can at times have side effects...

I mean heck, i was spanked as a kid and i personally think its made me a better person and i honestly in a way thank my parents for it coz it did make me think before doing some of the same stupid mistakes when i was younger...

Now as for this report, well, there just seems to be way too many holes in it, and inconsistencies so i'll just leave it at that...

I don't know about the validity of the study, but I do know that spanking isn't necessary to discipline a child. I wasn't spanked as a child and turned out fine (well enough, anyways) and I will not spank my children. I have plenty of friends who were spanked, and they also turned out fine.

there is a difference between spanking and being dropped on your head, as I know you know from your own experience!
:)

" the child is father to the man" is freudian psychology 101.

Come to think of it, you do act like people who get their heads bashed repeatedly, and often ;)

And parents who rely on Freud for child rearing need therapy themselves.

do you know anything about psychology at all? have you ever studied it? You speak as if instead of studying it you may have been a research subject for kids with developmental problems.
:)

Not familiar with human research I'm afraid, but you certainly sound like you are quite familiar with the process. So is that what you mean? People who were studied when young end up studying everyone and everything when grown? ;)
