I remember him, with his little hairdo fin. He still looks really good. I hope it works out for you hes going to look so cool once he eats more

Hmm, have you tried glass/ghost shrimp? I used them as treats and he would go nuts for them.

That sucks, yea try the live shrimp or the shrimp with garlic he's got eat somthing. Mine have always eaten the peas in garlic even if they didn't like peas the garlic always got them to eat at least a little.

Nutrient wise, peas aren't going to offer a whole lot, even if he did eat a few.

While I understand that you treated this fish with met, exactly how long did you treat him for, and at what mg/l level?

I believe I did a minimum of 125mg per 10/gallons every other day for 6 treatments. So 12 days. Then a waterchange. Used a full 5g container on a 60gallon tank.

Just got back from picking up some garlic extract (sort of) it's Walmart soft gels which were $4 vs. Kent Marine or Seachem's $20. Also have some live snails. Tried a new LFS that really didn't have much in the way of live foods.

In an aquarium setting metronidazole dissipates out of solution in approx 8-10 hrs, so once a day every other day, especially at 125 mg/l per 10 gallons wouldn't have had any major effect on internal pathogens/flagellates. (250 mg/l is the dosage rate I always recommend)

If it was my fish, at this point I would treat the tank with Jungle Tank Buddies Parasite Clear, which contains both metronidazole & praziquantel, and is very effective against the vast majority of internal parasites, yet is easy on your bio bacteria. Start with a 25-40% water change, treat with 1 tab per 10 gallons, leave the tank lights off, and treat for 48 hrs, followed by another 25-40% water change. In worse case scenarios you can wait 48 hrs, then repeat treatment.
At least you could then rule out internal pathogen problems.

Jungle PC has saved my arse on more than a few occasions over the yrs.

Nice looking fish, Interesting color
I had an Oscar once who refused to eat anything after being moved to a tank by himself, The last thing i tried was giving live food, Before that i was a fanatic against live food but it was the thing mad him eat again.

Here he is tonight. You can see he's lost most of his black, and whatever nuchal hump he had.

Whenever I use Metro I use ~200 mg per 10 gallons with a 50% water change and retreatment daily for atleast 3-4 days. Off topic here but when is the next club meeting? I really would like to make it over for one.....
