Just wondering why you described him as "F1 male midas from Jeff Rapps"?
how else would he describe him? hes just stating where he got him from and what his pedigree is so that we know it is a pure midas, since most "midas" from petstores are mixes you can't know that you have a pure specimen unless you get it from a reputable breeder like rapps

Finally saw him eat a pellet today. He proceeded to chew it for 25 minutes. This leads me to a couple thoughts.

1) He has a physical problem eating. Which leads to the next.

2) The pellets I feed are either to large (they're pretty small) or to hard for him to eat.

So I need some suggestions for some soft pellets. Small and soft would be best. Slow sinking maybe?

have you tried soaking the pellets in a cup of tank water first? i did this with my GTs for a little while when they weren't eating like they were supposed to and it helped a bit. as for a soft pellet, the jumbo cichlid sticks are fairly soft and you can just give them a squeeze as you drop them into the tank and they soak up water really well
