Hmm, cant think of a soft pellet, but if you soak a sinking pellet for a minute or 2 it will loosen up. If he eats it then maybe he cant eat harder foods, if he eats and spits out probably internal parasites.
Im in the same boat. I have a female GT who hasnt eaten in a month and a half. Starting to get worried. Let us know if you find a solution. good luck

My midas has always been like that however he's just a walmart0 special. The feeder fish just slowly disappear and he only eats pellets after dark, when the lights are out and he thinks I'm not watching... Its really weird.

He won't touch the pellets after they've been in the tank long enough to soften up. He also won't touch soft food like earthworms and wax worms.

He doesn't have parasites because 1) I've treated him twice and 2) I've seen him eat. He goes nuts for convict eggs and I saw him eat a pellet today.

I really think he has an physical limitation with eating either large or hard food. He literally chewed the pellet for 25 minutes. What fish does that?

yeah try soaking it in tank water in a cup first for a couple mins to soften up and THEN pour into tank, so he sees it as its dropping in and its already soft for him. seems like you have tried everything else, not sure what else you can do...

Tried raw shrimp. Tried soft pellets. He won't look at either. I'm over it. He's up for free in the Northwest marketplace.

Girlfriend got some new fish today so I picked up some live blackworms and frozen krill when I was there. He may have eaten some blackworms, but didn't touch frozen krill. It may be a start...who knows.

Still up for free if you come pick him up.

The magic potion appears to be live blackworms with an ounce of tank water mixed with several Hikari cichlid gold pellets and a dash of garlic extract. He has a full belly for the first time since Feb...

Does that mean you are keeping him now MM?
