Wow peacock so you mastered the 600 in a few months. You should be on th etrack with Rossi. You are a meathead. Liters have alot more torque and are alot less forgiving. Morons who buy big bikes as their first drive up everyones insurance premiums.
I like the 750 idea. I rode a 2000 gxr 750 for a while and that was one fun ass bike. It was fast enough to hang with the big boys (of course you have to shift more than the liter bikes) and was super easy to toy with in parking lots. It was just a well balanced bike IMO. Alot of the liter bikes these days are pretty nutty machines. Most will do 90mph in first gear ,at a million RPMs, but none the less they will do it. With something like that there is no room for error. And the street adds danger to that. Most of the bad ass racers don't even ride on the streets, esp. not on liter bikes. Its to easy to go 180mph. But it all boils down to what you want. Go out and ride some friends bikes and see what you think.

Do you realize you contradict yourself? If there is little difference between the two why are you telling him to go for the liter? If you are "maxing" out your 600 wouldn't you "max out" the liter?

must admit my 600 became boring within 6 months. i think if that guys has ridden off road he can handle a big bike probably even better than someone who has been riding on the road for a few years. dirt riding skills are way more advanced than road driving skills when it comes to control. one think off road riding cant teach you is to see the signs of that car about to pull out of a junction in front of you.
i agree with some of what peacock is saying and there are good points made. if the orignal poster cant make his mind up at least he has both sides of the coin.
either way mate, just ride safely and within your limits. you are far more likely to die in a road accident on a bike.

I agree about the dirt bike riding being harder. That's how I started and I think it made a better rider.
wow, thanks for all the replies. i definatly do have dirt bike riding experience. i also know the difference in power in a 250 dirtbike and a 1000 sport bike. throttle response on the 1000 is crazy. some of the guys that i work with have bikes and they all have 1000cc gsxr's and ninjas and i guess i just want what they have you know. i know the smart think will be to go with a 600. thats definatly what ill do. (well, the smart thing would be forget the bike and get a huge fish tank) ha ha theres always room for one more hobby, right? btw the guys at work with are kinda serious stunt riders. i dont plan on any of that as i have kids that need a daddy.just weekend cruises up to the mountains, lake ete.

Riding is a awesome hobby. Especially if you can get in some track days.
I think that getting a late model 600 will be a good move and as you progress you can always move up. It is truely a fun sport and one that is very addictive. Good luck bro!
