Sport Bikes (GSXR 1000)

i have a VFR750 that is good to play and a gs500 to use daily,next gone be a SV1000s,love bikes but lost a peace of liver , puncture lung ,smash 2vertebres,
lost a organ call baço ( dont now US word) ,lots of broken ribs ,wake in hospital whit 12 pipes in body ,not nice to see and my ZZR1100 to scrap due to drunk driver .
but love of bikes make me love to ride

Since your a dad you are much less likely to act foolish so I'd say get whatever you like. I started on a 600 at age 32 and got a liter bike 2 years later. The 600 was great but I'm a pretty big boy so the R1 is a better overall bike for me. Take into consideration what type of riding you will be doing. 600s carve corners a little better but liter bikes provide great power in all gears which is nice for highway manuvers. I'm partial to Yamaha for looks and durability but Honda, Suzuki and Kawisaki all make nice bikes.

wow, thanks for all the replies. i definatly do have dirt bike riding experience. i also know the difference in power in a 250 dirtbike and a 1000 sport bike. throttle response on the 1000 is crazy. some of the guys that i work with have bikes and they all have 1000cc gsxr's and ninjas and i guess i just want what they have you know. i know the smart think will be to go with a 600. thats definatly what ill do. (well, the smart thing would be forget the bike and get a huge fish tank) ha ha theres always room for one more hobby, right? btw the guys at work with are kinda serious stunt riders. i dont plan on any of that as i have kids that need a daddy.just weekend cruises up to the mountains, lake ete.

On that case since you dont have the knowledge but seem in the right state of mind.....I think a 750 GSX-R would be ideal....wont really out grow it, can have fun when you want, be able to throw the bike around and corner, and havea bit more trottle response to it.....They chrome/polish that bad boy out and go slow to show it off!

"Common sense" is the key word I am a father I have a wife but there is no substitute for experience that goes for fish keeping bikes life etc. I have known a few very good riders that have come a cropper from other idiots. You need to keep 1 eye on the road 1 eye on the bike and one eye on the other idiots so 3 eyes needed the biggest danger to you is no 3.

there is a fairly thourogh moto safety cource offered at the community college. i looked into it and talked to some friends about it. i wont even think about riding without that extra bit of knowledge. my dad is trying to talk me out of it , funny thing is is that he rides a bike every single day. what a hipocrite.

if any of you had a clue you would realize a 1000 is no way intended for a newbie and if you have'nt riden a motorcycle of any kind dirt or street, goin out and buying a $10,000 bike is dumb.. you need to get some seat time homie you have no clue as to how to react to a traffic situation, you will be a mark on the pavement and a topic for the police and new's paper's to talk about ...

peacockbass is correct in saying(today's) 600's & 1000's are close but It comes down to who has there balll's on the bike... 750's are a dead class ...

and most should learn to really ride there 600's and then you will see that a 600 is all that is neede on the street ... example below of being able to really ride.. obviously these pic's are'nt me , if they were I would not be wasting my time on this site....

you're a wise man for that. I have a 95 Honda CBR F3 that is really all I'll ever need on the street highway or the track. Honestly, do you really need to get to 130 any faster than a 600 can take you??

I you have never rode dont even think about getting a 1000 GSX-R

A 600 GSX-R would be best, but if you can take it easy...a 750 GSX-R

I just sold me 01 750 GSX-R after having it 3 years.....Very fun, and FAST bike....
Dont go nutts, it will toss you on your ASS...I would stay away from the 1000 and avoid the NEWBIE mistake! I am now upgrading to a 05 1000 GSX-R after 60k+ miles of ride time.....Im also 6'1" 220lbs.....If your a smaller guy.....a 600-750 will will be ideal for a long time.....

600 your be happy for a year....You can sell it and get 90% back and put it towards something bigger.....
750 would be a good bike with a lil' room to go, but less forgiving....

1000 for a newbie....only see one outcome....another trashed bike.

Dont buy NEW...buy a USED one! Save a few bucks, and INCASE you dump it....Your not out an ass load.....

The 2006 gsxr 600 is going to be on top of the food chain! Go with one of those. If you were in NJ I'd say I'll sell you one but too far away!
