starter monitor or tegu?

Blue tegus arent hybrids. You CAN get hybrids, but there are sold differently. Blues are inbred, but not that much. Only enough to establish a captive population, like ackies for example, and pretty much EVERY species that has been kept captive lol. They dont have nasty inbred genetic defects or anything, dont worry. But reds are fine too :) In fact, theyre my favorite! I just think if I was going to have a blue lizard it might as well be a tegu.

Your garage enclosure, with its size and depth probably shouldnt be for an adult. I wouldnt keep a juvie or baby outside because of safety and general peace of mind, but you live in such a great location Id hate to see you not do it...

OOOOOOOOH! Crap I just went back to read your post! Is your garage enclosure for winter or what? I didnt see where you said youre going outdoors, but glad to hear it! Elaborate please :)

yeah thats what I meant, that their inbred. I found some randome herp forum and there were threads saying that they have really bad problems...so I'm shying away from them just to be safe.


as for the enclosure in my garage, it will be its enclosure till it hits a big enough size where i think it can be ok in my backyard out side. Once it gets to that size, the enclosure will just be used for winter use.

probably just going to my LHS, but if i get the cash, im ordering one of those snow tegus from that one guy:popcorn:

I would buy online from a breeder. A simple 40 bucks for shipping is a small price to pay for a one-on-one talk with a breeder who can really answer all your questions. Bert Langerwerf and I exchanged emails for about a week and he answered everything I could ask and was glad to help. Sisco, Varnyard, and Ron St. Pierre have great reputations as well.

Did you ever take a look at Langerwerfs outdoor enclosures?

yeah, but the thing is my parents dont like to deal with shipping at all, the see the same thing in a store theyll get it even if its more expenceive, but if i can get a friend to do it ill deffinatly get it from a breeder.
 
Dont like to deal with shipping? Are they afraid to open the box or something? The reason you pay 40 bucks for it is so the BREEDER does it for you :P
