Still you cant release any fish once in aquarium, will never be released even if its native to that lake.

Gotcha Rebel.....Won't happen.....thanks man.

RG,

There are tons of Rio's in New Orleans, but getting them out and transporting could be a problem. According to the Louisiana Wildlife and fisheries web site

PROHIBITED FRESHWATER FISHES

No person may possess or sell in this state the following fishes: all species of piranha, tilapia and carp (except koi or common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and goldfish (Carassius auratus)); Rio Grand Cichlid; freshwater electric eel (Electrophorus sp.); rudd (Scardinius erythrophthalmus); all members of the families Synbranchidae (Asian swamp eels), Channidae (snakeheads), Clariidae (walking catfishes) and Trichomycteridae (pencil catfishes). No fish of any species from outside the state shall be liberated within the state except upon written permission of the Secretary. No fish of any species shall be liberated into state waters without written permission of the Secretary.

Even though your intent is to take it out of the state, if you catch a Rio and don't release it, you would probably be considered "In possession". You may want to call LDWF for clarity, and be cautious.

Man, excellent point.......I've got some friends that I need to put on that.

And you just know how they love us Mississippi Anglers! <grinz>

LOL......I've stumped them! They are looking into what kind of permit I will need to have to possess this fish for REMOVING from the state......

For those of you that have seen my other threads, I am happy to say...." My aquarium is finally starting up with some bluegill to get it going. Finally got the water cleared up. In a week, I'll add a Largemouth Bass fingerling. Plan to build a canopy for the tank after I recover from my surgery. Here are some pics of the set up tank and some of the inhabitants.....

No, that's what those bream are doing in there now......starting the cycling......I'll test the waters in a week and add fish as the water is right....Right now, each of those fish have about 10 gallons of water they can call their own.....The FX 5 has Amonia remover, Biomax, and Carbon from top to bottom in the trays.....
