Once again.

It shows the models affected (according to Marineland) so whether Petsmart is going to replace EVERY Stealth heater model will most likely be up to them, and could vary from store to store. Only way to find out would be to call your nearest Petsmart & ask.
Yes, but that letter is from UPG, Marineland's distributor. It is not related at all to what Petsmart is doing, hence my question.

Hence the reason I posted this:

Yeah, I have about 5-6 at home. They've always worked fine for me though, and I think the original Stealths have a great rep. I don't even know what I'd do with store credit though. Everything they carry is overpriced beyond belief :nilly:

I have several of the old Stealths as well, some 6-7 yrs old, and no problems. But a buddy in town just got a small zap from one of his, when he pulled it out it had a small crack on the backside that he said he never would have noticed had he not felt the voltage/current leak in his tank.

Either way I'm pulling all of mine & replacing them with a different brand, no sense in waiting to see what happens.

You gonna try and them them to Petsmart? When I called, they said to just bring them in. But I didn't mention anything about the older Stealths. Maybe if I show them the letter from UPG stating the older Stealths should be removed from shelves, they may take them in. Guess it's worth a shot.

But I don't even use these anymore, I've switched to titanium heaters on a controller nad haven't look back since!

All of my heaters are on independent controllers. Our local Petsmart hasn't carried Stealth heaters for years, so I'm going to toss the one Pro model in the garbage, and keep the older Stealth models (which are all still working fine) for emergency back up for now. At least the older models don't explode.

Speaking of which, someone on a local forum just woke up to a Pro model that exploded during the night in their reef tank. Not cracked, but exploded, with bits of pieces of plastic everywhere, and the metal end of the heater hanging out.

I have 13 of these... 1 in every tank, and 2 in some of them.

I just called my petsmart- they will take them as is, and give store credit or another heater.

I told her I have 13, and she was like "uhm, yeah...bring them all in...."
