Stealth Pro Heater Recall!!!

Getting ready to return 7 stealths but they will only give store credit. Wish I hadn't thrown 5 others away. rrrrgggg
I ended up going in yesterday and buying two of the Fluval 300w heaters and an Eheim auto feeder. The 'merchandise credit' they give you can't be used online, just a warning.
I'm trying to see if they'll let me buy a gift card with the merchandise credit so I can use it online to buy a Quiet One pump. If you go in, insist that they give you a gift card instead of a merchande credit card.

I did not read this whole thing, but if you contact marineland directly, they will give you a few options. You can get visatherms (what i did, just in case) or they give you some money.

Well I went in to my local Petsmart and they wouldn't let me get a gift card. No idea why, as it's not like they're not giving me cash, and the money will will be spent with Petsmart regardless. Called corporate and they couldn't understand why the store refused, so the rep opened up a case for me. He said I'd be contacted by management in a few days to resolve the issue. Not that hard really, all I want to do is buy something online that isn't sold in stores. Gotta love American bureacracies

i just got my 2 visi-therm heaters in the mail. i am not really all that impressed with them. i liked the stealth b/c they had no on off light. sounds stupid i know but hey i did buy them for a reason and the replaces are not to my liking. so i will be calling marineland Monday to ship them back to them and just get my money back.
anyone know of any other heaters that dont have that stupid light?

I also liked the all black look w/o the light as it wasn't distracting or an eye sore. That's why I bought mine to begin with and I was bummed to find out they were doing such bad things because mine had been a great heater and I got it right when the Pro version came out replacing a non-Pro heater. After some research I ended up ordering this heater. If you scroll mid-way down and find the 'Titanium' heaters that's what I ordered. I liked the features as well as the price and read good things so I added one to a sponge & air pump filter order I was placing anyway. I've been using it a little over a week and so far it's true to all the claims and the only question will be long-term reliability. If it lasts then it's my favorite heater so far.
