Stingray addict w/o hope must build bigger

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well as life goes things got busy and working solo on this project made slow head way as its really hard to try to keep everything straight and level which is important. My father was available this weekend and holiday which gave us the opportunity to work together and really make progess on the walls. After the first 8-10 layers or so we really got into a groove and we're able to get it done faster as we went up. Not sure if I said before but we screwed together the wood about every 10 inches and then used glue around all the cuts and in critical areas. I purchased a good amount of construction adhesive going off the Sq footage they suggested and still have lots left over.
Larger holes in the left side are going to have double 2 inch bulkheads that will feed the pumps through the wall. Other side will have 3 1.5 inch return jets pushing across the pond and then above that I have 2 1.5 inch drains for the drip system. I wanted to make sure that if a ray ever blocked an intake or a drip drain that another would still be able to take care of the tanks needs. Would have been easy to go over the side of the pond but I really like the flush and clean look with using bulkheads through the side. I'm also going to be using the slim strainers so it should look good.
Overall the walls came out very straight and true. Rather happy with how level they are after fighting the boards to keep everything in line. Hope you enjoy the pics. I'll have to get everything cleaned out today for some better pics. Almost used the full 25lbs of screws. Was almost thinking I would need more but ended up just fine. If anyone wants any other pics or info ask away. Thanks for reading.
Also if you click the last attachment at the bottom after the pic you get to see a full pic of the pond. It's to big to get in one so it's a panoramic pic . Just won't load in to see as a full image. Have to click on it.

JohnG is the guy with a similar pond design. I'm assuming you took inspiration from him ;)

This build is looking great. I can't wait to see it finished :)
