Stingray issues, what can it be?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is not aging, i got them all when they were 10cm big, so the age is pretty much how long ive had them, and thats 2 years on all of the once that has gone away(and now starving). Trying to get a hold of prazi, but its not very easy here up in north, have to pay top dollars to say the least .

Not sure how easy it is to get meds over there, but I've sent meds up to Canada for a fellow ray keeper before. Just let us know if you need someone to ship you over some IF it's as easy as just mailing it.....

I'd do like David said, Prazi and Metro, then re-evaluate.

Prazi's cheap on Ebay.
Jehmco is my source for KG of Metro.

You don't run UVs do you? Many have said UVs could help in these sort of situations.....

I will shorten the story up a little, to see if anyone has seen it happen before and a little help on what they did to make it good. 1 ray stops eating, acting pretty normal, a little less active, but still seems to be active when feeding time is there.. It goes away, and a second one does the exact same thing, it goes away.. Now were on the 3rd, not eating, but still eager for food when feeding time is there, gathers with all the other once, and seems to chace food, but eventually ends up eating nothing.. any hint?

I appriciate all the feedback i have gotten, really appriciate it! Thank you all for using time on helping me out!

edit: Seems like we posted on same time DB, i have huge respect for you when it comes to raykeeping, and will check out your ebay hint! Why didnt i think of that myself? I do not run an UV on my tank, have checked price, and will eventually get myself one, and i can definetly see that it would work in this type of situation, seems like its going from 1 to 1, and the uvs would probably kill it in the making! Its an eyeopener.

I just bought some a month or 2 ago. I'll try to find contact info, I think I paid $100 shipped for a half gallon of Pond Prazi. I'll give you the contact info and if that guy won't or can't ship to you we'll have to figure out how I can. I could just send you that half gallon I have and get more. I'm also sitting on a KG of Metro and a KG of Bifuran, if you end up needed some of either same deal applies, can send what I have, that way you're not waiting.

We just need to know IF I can just go to the post office and ship meds to Norway.

Kinda chaps me to see someone needing meds and having trouble getting them. Skynoch up in Canada had the same problem and I did the same for him, just sent him all the Binox I had, then bought myself more after rushing his off.

I don't even second guess or try to pinpoint anymore...... Appetite isn't up to par I dump Prazi in. I've had great luck with them becoming very hungry after a few days of Prazi. The important thing will be to run a FULL treatment....... It will suck bad with that kind of volume but if you don't eradicate everything then it will come back and start building an immunity to the meds. Gotta get it all..... If I remember right a full treatment is like 3 weeks.

Just got added to my "hero's" list.

Thats a huge turnover of fresh water I thought adult stingrays try to find salt water when they grow old is it a saliity issue. Why is so much water compromised each day and then needed to be added. I dont like adding anything to my tanks besides marine salt tea tree oil and potasium permagante it helps me with water chemistry and is great on organic matter and health issues. It is easy to use in bulk .5 grams to 125 gallons or so.

I am new to ray keeping and by far not the best. I would not go as far as to sugest to read my post but maybe. I have a small tank I use a pond filter with a backwash feature. It has a uv sterilizer built in also. You can get one for your gallonage for under 100 bucks. Worth the investment. I use one and has not failed me what are your temps like, is it a air issue. I have a lot of turbity from my 1800 gph pump so i dont use air pumps only for show and there on a timer. I do add salt and keep a salinity level. I was reading somewhere as rays get older it make a difference. I also add light medications as preventions so it never gets to the point I am runing to buy expensive antibotics that will or will not be over used and therefore less effective. I see you add water daily I was a plumber for years and we add chlorine to the pipes on new construction to kill bateria is it something like that. Water born infection that might be building up.

I may found a source on www.rockymountaindiscus.com . They ship to Norway. But it is actually illegal in norway for some reason, so there is always a risk with the toll service. I appriciate your effort DB, i will keep u posted on the findings, il use you as a last option, dont wanna bugg people if its not needed :)
