Hi fellow ray keepers, I just had a question maybe some of you can enlighten me on. I know some hobbyist who have fed and still feed their rays NC's with no problems, but I've also heard of horror stories where rays died as a result of eating some NCs. I've personally had one bad experience and stopped feeding NC's but wanted to try again, any advice/input?

I lost an arowana feeding it Night Crawlers so therfore I refuse to ever use them as food. Nice avator btw!

I have never heard of a ray turning down night crawlers but I can definitely see them making a ray sick. If you just put fertilizer down in your backyard I don't suggest you go digging up worms for your expensive rays to eat lol.

I personally get "trout worms" from Wal-Mart and inspect every container before I pick the ones I want. I legit dig in the container to see how the worms look. Crazy, maybe. Just looking out for my rays

Mine won't even accept Nightcrawlers. They immediately went for Market shrimp though! :D

I can't imagine the worms themselves hurting the rays. Like someone said maybe their where chemicals on them or it could have possibly caused an ammonia spike if the tank was not properly filtered they can be quite messy

I have never had any issues with walts crawlers not sure if those are available outside the MI area though

Ya, I lost a hybrid blackie so I stopped feeding Nc as well, thanks btw :)

How do you know you lost your rays or fish to worms you guys.maybe that's what your excuse is.if their was something I'n a worm that could kill a ray the worm would for sure not be alive.maybe if you fed a rotten week old dead worm than maybe but still probably not even than.I contacted a few worm farmers looking for a source of worms .I also did ask all that I talked too and they all told me the exact same thing.if it can kill a fish it would be impossible for a worm to survive.they absorb stuff out of dirt. Their is no myth a live worm that is healthy can and won't kill anything

i feed nc all the time. only way i see a nc killing a ray would be the same with any other foods most people feed there rays, and that is if somethings on it, or the food its self is bad. if u get nc from a good source or know there clean i dont see any problems. i never heard of a nc killing a ray tho. i do rinse off before i feed to get all the dirt off.

I never fed worms from my backyard, all were purchased from places like petsmart or online suppliers.
