Stocking a 75 and Angelfish Tank Mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bud, that’s pushing it aggression wise. That’s like 15 cichlids that mostly get to a decent size. They will be territorial when they pair off and a 4’ x 1.5’ is not enough.
Listen to me, I love to over stock, I however won’t overstock territory wise or aggression wise.

So what would be an ideal stock with these angels and keyholes? Maybe rummy noses?

I would go for a bottom dweller as the upper levels are decently stocked as is. Perhaps a rainbow shark? Hoplo catfish? Raphael catfish? Senegal bichir?

I personally would not add a Senegal Bichir or any Polypterus specie. The Senegal will nip long trailer fins of the Angels.

So would I be fully stocked with 5 Angel's and 4-6 keyholes? Or could I add a bottom dweller or maybe 10 rummynose tetra?

I disagree and my personal experience does not show that. I had 6 senegals with an angelfish at one point and they never messed with anyone.

Some cory cats or even some loaches may work for the bottom, but the keyholes will likely spend most of their time near the bottom.

My experience was different had a experience with a Senegal that would go after African Butterfly fish trailer fin also had a Black Ghost Knife loose its tail to my larger Polypterus. The tail never grew back.

That’s odd, I’ve had over 2 dozen african butterfly fish with all of my bichirs and none of them have went after them.

Yes the Senegal was young but would go to the top and stalk the African Butterfly fish. I seperated them. After the Black Ghost Knife had its tail bitten off I decided not to never trust Polys with fish with long trailer fins. That's great to know you didn't have any issues.
