I second this motion.

I suggested yesterday to Jamie ( the boyfriend ) let's get a baby chihuahua next year and he was like why don't we have a baby.........errrr lol

I think you should get a ckcs coz ya'll know how cute Robert is ;) but we'll not get into that eh wurmy. Robert is big for his breed he's 22lb but should be 18lb. Any type of spaniel is great as a first dog :D They are cute enough for wifey to kiss and snuggle yet manly enough to hunt birds and stuff ..... My dad took Robert pheasant shooting and he didn't move lol guess I treat him like a baby too much

Other than that I think you should go with the above suggestion.

Any route you go you can find it at a shelter. To aid your search check this site out. All three of my rare purebred dogs were through this site. www.petfinder.com . It has all the dogs at rescues in your area. You can look by breed, size, age and more. You save tons of money and can still get purebred puppies. (Or fall in love with a mutt) :)

Or if you have to get it elsewhere, find a local breeder and make sure you see the parents. No pet stores. Thems bad bombin

i love these dog threads ...great dogs... hope you get your perfect dog ewurm.. alot to choose from...

She trained a Great Dane before. We're both dog lovers. I told her that if she wants a puppy, she gets to clean the crap off the carpet.

If you crate train it you shouldn't be picking up crap off the carpet that much. You might have a few accidents but nothing major. Great Danes are awesome, my fav dog and what I have.

A puppy is hard. Like a newborn baby, that may keep you up for the first few days. But even adult dogs can be a PITA. I mean it's a dog and it relys on you for everything at every point in it's life.

Check out shar pei's, they are a little hard to find but mine is the best dog. They don't shed much and they are lower on the energy scale, which makes them much easier in a house. Mine and others I've known are all calm, loyal, mild manored dogs.

Here is my dog, Sampson.

Another thing to consider is energy scale. Very good point. Have to pick a dog for your lifestyle.

But most of all pick the dog that you like as it's a 10+ years commitment.

You should get a Boston terrier are female weighs 15lbs and are male is about 20lbs and are very fun dogs love to play or just lay around and relax , Ares are surprisingly good watch dogs once they hear something out side they are rite their waiting for what ever it is especially are female.

I was going to suggest a Shetland Sheepdog, but you want to avoid massive shedding. I also suggest the Beagle. I have a Sheltie and a Beagle. Both aren't small toy dogs, but also not big dogs.
