I just used the applicators that came with the pvc primer/cement. At first I tried capping the end and applying full vacuum to the pipe still leaked either I didn’t get enough primer and glue in the correct spot into the poorly glued joint or it had too much vacuum not sure then I drill the pvc cap 3/8” hole then tried again and bingo leak fixed. No issues for almost 2 years. The method definitely works you just need patience.
Thank you. That helps tremendously.

The primer kind of preps the area....gets it a little sticky. The main I apply the glue liberally....like allot lol the main thing is make guide lines on the two peieces that are being joined.

So given the height of my stand and the limited room I have underneath it for the sump, I had to find a way to plumb the overflows into the filter socks and after spending a lot of time talking it over with the owner of my local LFS, I decided to use 1 1/4” flexible hose and run them into the socks. I took each 2” overflow pipe and built a Tee that separates them into two 1” pipes where the hose will attach with metal hose clamps to keep it water tight. I have four new filter socks holders coming on eBay that’ll have the circular 7” filter socks so that all of this meshes cleaner and I can superior filtration and not have this clumsy sock holder I have now.

Given the angle of the pics it’s tough to see the detail. Not a clean look like hard plumbed pipes but it’ll have to do. Feedback is appreciated.

Still have to plumb the return pump for the sump. That should be straight forward. After that, I need to plumb the ultima and it’s pump. That’s going to take a lot of measuring. Thank goodness for unions and couplings.

I love your build though I think you are going to regret the height of the stand in regards to servicing the plumbing for the sump set up. I didn't realize until you got that gorgeous tank on the stand and saw the sump in place that you would have so little room to maneuver around. Sorry for being a debbie downer!

No worries. I regretted it the moment I put the sump inside. Good thing is lost the maintenance will just be replacing filter socks which shouldn’t be too bad woth the new sock holders.

I should’ve gotten the stand 36” tall instead of 32”.

I went with the flex hose so I can shut the Valves off for the overflows and then slide the hosing out giving me full access to the socks. This was the best solution I could find.

The lessons learned the first time around. I’ll know better next time.
