Super Aggressive Dovii

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hope so, but the thing scares me most is one day he will know himself and decide he doesn't want any tankmates.

Nice Dovii. Try feeding him a floating pellet like NLS Extra Large fish Formula. That is one of the pellets I feed mine. I just get him on one side of the tank with my hand and lift the lid on the other side and drop a few in. I switch sides closing the lids as soon as I drop a few in on each side. I also step back 10' or so to let him eat and repeat. It keeps him a little calmer and there is less water to clean off the floor. If you upgrade to a large tank he should calm down.

Love your Dovii what a beast.. do you have the hinged glass tops with the plastic strip hinge? on one of my top sections I removed that strip. Leaves about a half inch gap between the two pieces in the middle of the tank... I feed my fish through there so I don't have to lift up the top.

Learned my lesson when a florida gar launched himself out of the tank at my hand to get to the food.. nothing like your blood in the water to make you re-think things..

Awesome fish.
I still have never seen a fish with more aggression than a dovii. They swim so fast and hit so hard, they really have no regard for their well being, at times.

I have some valuable cichlids which i cant say goodbye, such as trimac, gold morph jag, mota, loisellei, festae blackbelt and a synspillum. will be hard for me to give all those and keep dovii. anyway love to see some more of your dovii's video updates.

That's an amazing fish!!

Maybe drill a small hole in the corner for feeding?

Hi.

That's a sick Dovii deffo a mean b*st*rd, hahahaha, I think a fish like yours is the dream of many fishkeepers who like predatory species the most. I have at this moment 4 jags, one couple who have spawned and two males in separated setups of course, I hope my jags become half the exiting your fish is.

Just a comment: Why do you feed such a monster fish with such tiny pellets?, I think feeding that monster who is know as to be the most aggy cichild of them all with just tiny pellets equals to feed a tiger with dry cat food.

Im not saying you should practice life feeding him, I woudnt dare myself to throw some other fish or even mice to that monster and much less having children at home who could witness a possible carnage (maybe it is what your fish is asking for tho), however you could feed him frozen foods, I mean, something bigger and more exiting than just some tiny pellets.

My two cents.
