Yes! I had them sent from Ken Davis. He usually posts them on AquaBid.com, or you can get them from TangledUpInCichlids.com both reputable and beautiful sources.
I just received these in the mail today from Ken Davis at Southeast Exotics and Tropicals Inc. Supposedly his line are direct descendants of Rusty's line as well. Since your stock came from Ken as well, can you confirm that this is what a young Honduran red point cichlid should look like and that these are not hybrid mixes? I'm hoping they'll color up more as they settle in (they're in a quarantine tank) and mature bc they're looking an awful lot like convicts with a hint of blue on some of them.

Once they are over a darker substrate they will likely look more blue. i have HRP's from TUIC and they glow but are taller bodied.

I hope they'll still appear blue even in non dark substrate because the tank I planned to put them in has natural colored sand. I heard that TUIC received their stock from Rusty as well. I'm just surprised both stocks differ even though from the same genetic line.

most fish show better colors over dark substrates but i do like the look or natural gravel.

If you raise an entire spawn of any species, you will have variations- they aren't clones!

I understand that they won't be clones. I'm just hoping they're the legit Honduran red points as I know there are a lot of mixed and hybridized ones available and sold as Honduran red points.

Those don’t exactly look like mine. I’m not sure if Ken crossed his recently or something, but mine were colorful at just an inch long. Lots of glowing blues & greens. Give them a couple days to settle, let’s hope they color up nicely.

That's what I was afraid of hearing. Seeing his breeding pair that he used to breed these, I was afraid the fry wouldn't turn out looking as nice as yours. But I took the chance bc seeing your originals and the offspring you obtained from the ones you got last summer looked really nice. All I can do now is hope for the best and hope that they color up as they get older.

Your HRP fry look like mine. The Father is pink/black, the mother is gray/blue with dark bands and blue cheek patches. When she really colors up there's an electric blue line in her top fin and her lower lip goes blue. Some of the fry are showing bits of blue.

@1". No substrate or tank lighting. bare. (A. heckelii are the none blue fish in the tank). I was just at Rustys home for a few days with my family. My fish look exactly the same as his still do. If we mixed them together neither or I woudl be able to tell them apart. They are bright blue at around 1/4". Ken is also a good source so best wait to see if they color up.
