2.5" rhoms having a blue iridecent color/shine to them...?

Aquascape sells blue diamond rhoms from like 2-3" up to like 8-10". (I personally dont trust the bdr's at that size unless you can see it for yourself.) Most guys say the blue is more dependent on the ambient lighting than the fish, but Ive seen bubba outta water, in water, with leds, with t8 single and double bulb of various kelvins, and a triple bulb t5ho. He's always had a distinct blue/purple to him. Hopefully yours is the same and keeps it as he grows man. Blue is definitely an awesome trait imho.

The thing is its easily visible in ambient light. I have no tank light atm.... His diet is 80% NLS 5% Bw 5%flake and 10% smelt

I'm pretty excited, his growth has really exploded.

Idk if the big tank has anything to do with it, but glad youre seeing good growth. Try putting a few different lights on the tank and see if the blue is just a reflection or if its his color.

I say not to trust vendors or private owners who advertise "blue" diamond rhoms. Its a marketin ploy. Ive bought a 6" gold diamond rhom that looked exactly the same as a normal rhom. No real diamond scales, no special gold coloring (just the gillplate throat area like normal and the slightest gold reflection sometimes). The fish had awesome shape and personality but i wouldnt label it a gold diamond rhom.

Eventually I wanna setup a 75 or 90 in my office for a rhom, I was going to do it now but since I'm setting up the 500 for piranhas I'm going to hold off for a while till I get them going. Everyday I was checking AS for BDR but they were never there so that's kinda how the rbp in the 500 took over :)

Just remember to ask nicole for pics man. Most blue diamonds dont look like those pics. They dont get dark til 9-10" so the smaller bdr's look like normal rhoms with a slight blue sheen.

That sounds like mine, a nice solid sheen. But I'm not going to get my hopes up! Either way I love the little bugger!

And yea the bdr in aquascapes pic look incredible but I agree with mike, those aren't the ones you'll be getting.

My rhom was sold to me as guayan.

subscribed, when are you planning on getting them? this will look great when its done

Last of my africans are being picked up tomorrow and I'm heading out to the local river looking for a couple large driftwood peices to give it a sunken forest look if I can find some good wood so I will probably order them tomorrow to be shipped next monday or tuesday.

I will probably wait till the first of the year before I try and get a rhom tank set up. I found 3 tanks in the local craigslist and all 3 quit answering email after the first reply so I gave up and decided to go with the big piranha tank. But I'm gonna keep the rhom tank in mind an dhopefully come across a good tank setup for sale. What REALLY, and I do mean REALLY sucks is I saw this about 30 minutes to late.....free tank. I live in columbus so it was right there for the taking...

Well, placed my order just now and they are shipping them tonight lol, they are fast! 36 rbp will be here tomorrow! They were out of the cariba so I just went with the rbp which I am more than ok with I think agiant shoal of 36 piranha is going to be VERY impressive regardless of species. I also made it out to the local river and picked up some nice driftwood so now it's time to go aquascape and get the tank ready for tomorrow :)
