Tank Breeding Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Back in the late 80's I read an article in TFH that had photos of the first guy to breed asian aros. He had very large vats inside of what looked like a lab. He gave very specific details of how he did it. Maybe if you do some reseach other then here, you could find the information you are looking for prior to realizing you can't afford to do it.

Thanks rodger, at least you are trying to help with some info.

I did some research already and found that it has to do with feeding, lighting and water parameters etc. Just thought that by now (2012) some other fish breeders or lovers have cracked it.

Ya know man, your arrogant attitude isn't really the best approach when trying to get advice. Just my opinion though. What have you bred in the past?

I have bred many types of fish, from Freshwater to Marine. Reason why i got pissed of is reading a thread earlier about a guy just asking about an Arowana and all just started talking crap on how its illegal and all that stuff. So i'm thinking same is happening to my thread. If you dont know just dont answer, very simple.

I apologize if anyone got pissed at my answers. I love breeding fish and this is my new challenge.

If anyone can answer how can i sex Arowana's?

good luck if you can get them to breed then you better start a thread about it cause i wanna see it! lol

Well that's what i'm trying to do here. I have been breeding fish for around 20 years, never been into Arowana till i decided to add a new fish to breed in my list.

Here is another video.....

Also that was the whole point of this thread.

it is hard to tell the sex of an arow
some people say that the males have a slightly larger mouth so they can hold the eggs but i dont think that you can tell untill they start breeding
im no expert though

Hey thanks.

The whole point of this forum/thread is to help each other.

This is what i know so far and would like to share.

Tank Size - 180cm (6 feet) minimum

Water - Soft and Acidic, pH 5.5-7 (Also helps color)

Feeding - Live Food (Fish, Frogs and Prawns) Also good pellet food at times.

I just need a bit more advice of Sexing if possible and any other things i need to know that i have missed.

Thanks

Oh look...there is a video of arowana breeding in a tank.... That tank doesn't look 250+ gallon either
